 At 15, I raised in excess of £2,500 to join a World Challenge humanitarian expedition to the heart
of the Guyanese interior between July and August 2002. My fundraising exploits are evidential of my clear
entrepreneurial streak. Furthermore, the expedition itself shaped me into a more tenacious, resourceful and
self motivated individual.
 In April 2006, I raised £1,050 for Link Community Development, an NGO operating at a grassroots
level whose main focus is school improvement in sub-Saharan countries in partnership with their Ministries of
Education, by hitchhiking from London to Marrakesh, Morocco in a shade under 4 days.
 University of Bristol Link Community Development Representative 2006-2007. Voluntary position
to market, publicise and champion LCD’s cause. Freshers’ Fair advertising, campus lectures and persistent
online campaigning on my part ensured that 35 Bristol students fundraised and hitchhiked to Morocco for LCD
at Easter 2008. I derived from this role an ability to effectively juggle and manage conflicting priorities.
 Elected President of the University of Bristol Italian Society 2006 – 2007. I orchestrated a faculty
visit to Rome and the State of the Vatican City in spring 2007 in addition to frequent wine tasting sessions,
countless trips to the Watershed cinema and theatre. My tenure as President illustrates that I am a pro-active
and assiduous self-starter, capable of running and developing a project from A to B.
 In September 2010, I completed the 25th Budapest International Marathon. Running for the British
Red Cross, I fundraised in excess of £1,200 in aid of the charity’s Pakistan flood appeal.

 I am an active member of my Constituency Labour Party. I volunteered on the Ed Miliband leadership

campaign, debating against Caroline Flint MP at the Nottingham South Labour Party hustings.
