BULLETIN FOR SPANDAN

This is an HR event for the students of IBS. This event is a


culmination of Business strategy, Marketing Research and Human
resource. The event will commence by allotting industries to every
section of the 1st year batch, giving way to studying the HR
practices prevailing in the industry. Every section will be allotted 5
mentors from the 2nd year batch for the respective junior classes.

Overview
• Every section will be allotted a specific industry whose HR
practices they will be expected to study incorporating
marketing research in the project.

• After studying the HR Practices in the specific companies,


problems and challenges pertaining to the industry have to be
also studied.

• The crux of the event aims at students coming out with


creative solutions and recommendations for their respective
industries. The solutions will be pertaining to the challenges
faced by the industry.

• 6 weeks time will be allotted to every division to research on


the practices prevalent in the industry.

• Non- adherence to the time limit of 6 weeks will result in


disqualification of the class.

• Primary research is mandatory which has to be supported with


the help of business cards and other company documents if
available. Secondary research should be in consonance with
primary research.

• The event will be judged by top HR and marketing


professionals of the industry.

• The best class adjudged will be awarded with a trophy.

Theme for Spandan 2010

• The competition comprises of 2 phases:

Ist phase
• Every division has to submit a White Paper stating the
objective in not more than 500 words. This should be
accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation of not more than 5
slides. The deadline for the same is 7 days from the date of the
declaration of the event.

• An interim report of the work done till date has to be provided


within 15 days from the declaration of the event.

IInd Phase
• In the second phase, all participating teams shall make a
presentation before a jury comprising eminent people. 2
members of each class are expected to present the research
incorporated by the class.

• 20 minutes are allotted for the presentation and 10 minutes


for clarification of queries by the esteemed panel. Computer
Projection system would be provided at the venue of the oral
presentations.

• The final paper and presentation should incorporate new ideas


and recommendations supported by analysis of data from
pertinent sources, citing organizational examples wherever
possible.

RULES FOR MENTORS


• The mentors’ responsibility is to be guiding and delegating
work to the first year students.

• Their basic responsibility revolves around mentoring and


constantly motivating the students to achieve the target.

• Mentors need to have regular meetings with their respective


classes and maintain minutes of the meetings and discussions
that they have with their class.

• The minutes of the meeting will be checked on a regular basis


by the coordinator of the event.

• A best mentor will be adjudged.

RULES FOR STUDENTS


• All the students of the respective divisions are expected to
participate in this event and give their valuable
recommendations.

• This is a competition wherein fair and square means are


expected to be put. Any disregard to the rules will result in the
disqualification of the class from the event.

• Every student group must have a single point of contact so


that the mentors can coordinate accordingly.

• Each student should work under the guidance of his/her


mentor.

• A weekly report is to be submitted by every group to its


mentor. i.e. last Friday of every week.

Note:
• Certificates will be given to mentors.
• Spandan is authorized to remove the mentor in this span of
research, if mentors are not working and co-ordinating
properly.
• Spandan is authorized to take decisions at their discretion.
