CALCULATION OF PROPAGATION
a. Horizontal distance and Relative Height

For Segment I & II, The Nearest reception point distance to main road is 80 m,
whereas Noise source and reception point height realtive is 3,5 m.
Chart 7 : Correction for Nearest reception point distance to main road and Source to
noise reception point height relative :
d` = (( d + 3,5 )2 + h2)1/2
Correction = -10 log10(d`/13,5) dB(A)
Segment I & II have the same level of nearest horizontal distance (d) = 80 m, with
source and reception point height relative (h) = 3,5 m , so it can be obtained
Propagation Dispertion Factor such as :
d` = (( 80 + 3,5 )2 + 3,52)1/2

d` = 83,57 m

C = -10 log10( 83,57/13,5 )

= -10 log10 ( 6,19 )

C = - 7,9 dB(A)

b. Propagation Mean Height (H) & Absorbent Ground Cover (I)

Calculation of segment I can be ignored because there are obstacle in calculation of
barrier influence (par 22.3). In segment II, the use of H formula is :

H = 0,5 ( 1 + 3,5 ) = 2,25

I = 1 (for grassland)

Chart 8 : Correction for soil suction as a function of horizontal distance (d),

high spread of the average H and the proportion of absorbent ground
I.

For : 0,75 ≤ H  ( d + 5 ) / 6

C = 5,2 I log10 (( 6 H -1,5 )/ ( d + 3,5 )) dB(A)

Segment H : H = 2,25 m ; d = 80 m and I = 1

Correction Factor = 5,2 . 1 . log10 (( 6 (2,25) -1,5 )/ ( 80 + 3,5 ))

= 5,2 log10 ( 0,14 )

C = - 4,4 dB(A)
c. Barier Path Difference/ m
Chart 9 : For segment I, the correction of Barrier Path Difference () between
source and reception point is :
Barrier Path Difference (  ) = SB +BR - SR

Whereas :
SB = Distance between Source position and diffracting edge
SB = ( 2,52 + 23,52)1/2
SB = 23,6 m
BR = Distance between diffracting edge and reception point
BR = ( 12 + 602)1/2
BR = 60,008 m
SR = Straight Distance between source position and reception point
SR = ( 3,52 + 83,52)1/2
SR = 83,6 m
Barrier Path Difference (  ) = 0,008 m
Then, look for correction factor by  in chart 9, C= -8,7

4. LAY OUT
a. Facade
Facade Correction needed for calculation whereas for calculate noise level 1 meter
in front of building, the correction plus 2,5 dB(A).
b. Opposite Facade Angle ’ deg
Reflections from the front of the building opposite where there are houses, other
sturdy buildings, fences or walls and the sound of traffic flow exceeds along the
opposite side of the road and facing the point of acceptance.
But in this task, there are no Opposite Facade Angle
c. Angle of View segment ’ deg
Chart 10 : Correction for Angle of View segment to road
Correction = 10 log10 ( /180 ) dB(A)
Segment I, angle view = 250, and correction factor are:
Correction = 10 log10 ( 25/180 )
= 10 log10 ( 0,14 )

Correction = - 8,6 dB(A)

Segment II, angle view = 1250, and correction factor are:
Correction = 10 log10 ( 125/180 )
= 10 log10 ( 0,69 )

Correction = - 1,6 dB(A)

Obtained correction factor based on the “Lay Out” are :

Chart 11 Combined Noise Level dB (A) 71,5

To Combine the noise level, Chart 11 can be used .

L10 (18 hours) = L + 10 log10 ( 1 + antilog10 ( - /10)) dB(A)

Whereas :

L = Highest Noise Level

 = 71,2 – 59,9 = 11,3 dB(A)

L10 (18 jam) = 71,2 + 10 log10 ( 1 + antilog10 ( - 11,3/10))

= 71,2 + 10 log10 ( 1 + 0,074)

= 71,2 + 0,31

= 71,5
