Need Analysis Interview Results
A. Strategy
The learning curriculum used at MTsN 1 Surabaya is K-13. Therefore, the teaching
method is student centered or focus on the students. Students are required to be active
while the teacher is only a facilitator in class. Furthermore, in oreder to providing
learning facilities, teachers also provide motivation to students before, during and
after learning takes place. Based on the results of the interviews we have conducted,
the learning strategies used by teachers at MTsN 1 Surabaya are quite diverse,
especially in the context of learning English. The strategy used is of course based on
K-13 and the use of the strategy is different depending on the class conditions and the
material presented.
B. Material
The whole learning materials used in MTsN 1 Surabaya are based on the K-13
standard. One of them is taken from a book created by Intan Pariwara. Meanwhile, on
the other hand, the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic which causes the learning process
to be carried out online has an impact on the delivery of material by teachers to
students. The positive side is the ease and flexibility of online learning that can be
done anytime and anywhere. Moreover, the negative side is that the delivery of
material is a little hampered. The teacher has a little difficulty to monitor the extent of
students' understanding of the material that has been conveyed. Therefore, so far
teachers have assessed students' understanding only through assignments.
C. Media
In terms of media use, English teachers at MTsN 1 Surabaya are quite creative. There
are several variants of media that have been used by teachers. For example, in offline
learning, teachers usually use greeting cards and so on. Meanwhile, in online learning,
teachers generally use media such as PPT, Youtube, Movies, Songs, etc. MTsN 1
Surabaya hopes that we can provide new innovations regarding learning media later.
In addition, in order to choose instructional media, there are several aspects that are
considered by teachers. First, a media must be in accordance with KI and KD.
Second, it should have characters. Third, its use matches the real conditions in the
field. Fourth, provides knowledge, practice and social aspects. Sixth, in accordance
with the learning objectives. Finally, it is simple, easy to understand and easy to use
by both students and teachers.

Aims:
The purpose of recount text is to list and describe past experiences by retelling events in the
order they occurred. By the end of exercise 2, The students are expected to produce the
recount text both orally and written form that are suitable with the environment’s need.

Objectives:
In the end of the lesson, students are expected to be able to:
1. Identify a recount text.
2. Know the structure of recount text.
3. Develop and organize their idea in order to produce a recount text.
4. Produce recount text by using the correct grammar, diction,
punctualization, and spelling.
5. Write recount text about various Islamic holidays using correct structure.
6. Produce recount text both written and orally.
FRAMEWORK OF E-BOOK SERVICE LEARNING

A. Exercise Activity (2)


After studying the whole material related to the Recount Text including Reading
Comprehension, Speaking Activity, Writing Activity, Listening Activity, Structure of
Recount Text, Vocabulary and Grammar, students will do exercises. This exercise
aims to determine the extent to which students understand the overall material that has
been learned. In addition, this exercise is useful for identifying deficiencies during
learning. Thus, the teacher can find out which material needs to be conveyed further
and which material the students understand well.
In this flipbook, there are two kinds of exercises that students must complete. The
first part of the exercise covers listening and reading skills and the second exercise
focuses on writing and speaking skills. This framework contains exercise activities in
part two.

The History of Isra’ Mi’raj

After the death of Abu Talib and Khadijah, the Prophet's missionary
journey became increasingly difficult. That is because there are no
longer people who defend him and become a consolation for him. In
the end Allah planned a spiritual journey for Rasulullah. Isra Miraj is a
spiritual journey to meet directly with Allah SWT and see His throne.
So before doing so, there is a spiritual sequence that the Prophet must
go through first. The spiritual ritual began when the Archangel Jibril,
Mikail, and Israfil came down to earth, approaching Rasulullah SAW
one night. With lightning speed they took the Prophet to the Zamzam
well in Mecca. Then they treated Rasulullah gently and asked his
permission to open his chest. Then Jibril washed the Prophet's heart
with Zamzam water.
Jibril took out a container of faith and wisdom. He poured all the
contents in the container into the Prophet's heart, so that the knowledge
of wisdom, knowledge of faith, and Islam had crystallized with the
heart of the Prophet. The preparations were complete, then the Prophet
was brought by the angels to Sidratul Muntaha using a vehicle called a
buroq. A white animal larger than a donkey and smaller than a mule,
with two wings between its legs. Then the Messenger of Allah left
Mecca. During the trip, he stopped at several places that had never
been seen before. Every place that he visited was explained by its
historical values by Jibril. The Prophet was also allowed to pray two
rak'ahs in each place. Then the Prophet was also shown the
punishments of a disobedient servant with each type of sin. The places
and events that the Prophet witnessed were valuable lessons (ibrah) for
him.
After doing Isra's journey, Rasulullah and Angel Jibril continued their
journey to Sidratul Muntaha, which is the seventh layer of heaven. This
spiritual journey is called Miraj. Jibril embraced Rasulullah and kissed
the forehead between his eyes while saying, "Ascending Muhammad!
You are a noble guest and will face God the Most High." Without a
long pause Rasulullah and Jibril stepped up the Mikraj. As soon as his
two feet stepped on the first ladder, the ladder moved up by itself,
bringing Rasulullah and Jibril flying through the clouds. They also
traveled to the seventh heaven. At every level of the heavens, the
Messenger of Allah witnessed extraordinary sights. He met the
previous Prophets and their pious followers. Sky by sky he passed,
until Rasulullah reached his peak in the seventh sky or Sidratul
Muntaha, even Jibril could not go past it.

Rasulullah also met Allah SWT and was given orders to pray by Him
for 50 rakats. Then the Prophet negotiated regarding the number of
rakats by asking the Prophet Musa (AS) for advice. Until finally from
the Isra Miraj incident there was an order to pray the five times that are
obligatory for every Muslim.

Rahman : Of course I'm fasting. Fasting is Allah's command.
Lana : Yes, I know. Then do you know the meaning of
fasting?
Rahman : I have read a book that fasting according to the term
means refraining from anything that cancels from dawn to sunset.
Lana : Then is there a legal basis for fasting Ramadan?
Rahman : Of course there is, the legal basis is the Koran, i'jma
and sunnah.
Lana : Then who can not fast?
Rahman : Those who may not fast are sick people, travelers, the
elderly, and pregnant / breastfeeding women.
Lana : You're really smart, right? Where did you get all the
explanations for the fasting of Ramadan?
Rahman : At school I studied Fiqh. That's why I know the
explanation of fasting
