bahan penting pembuatan kari.

Rimpang jahe (Zingiber officinale Roxb. Rhizome) dan rimpang temulawak (Curcuma
xanthorrhiza roxb.
Semakin tinggi konsentrasi minyak atsiri menyebabkan daya sebar
ABSTRACT
Ginger Rhizome (Zingiber officinale Rhizome Roxb. Rhizome) and Javanese Turmeric Rhizome
(Curcuma xanthorrhiza roxb. Rhizome) contain essential oils that can serve as a repellent. In order to
cut the cost and irritating nature of ginger essential oil, essential oils of Javanese Turmeric had been
combined. Cold cream base has more oil phase that can improve the ability of essential oils binding.
Those bases are expected to increase the effect of repellent. Hence, related to repellan effect, the
physical properties test of essential oils must be done to ensure purity and quality. Before performing
repellent effects test, a physical properties test to obtain the best formula, i.e., a formula that can be
applied topically with ease and comfort when it used. Essential oil of ginger rhizome and javanese
turmeric rhizome are isolate by water and steam distillation methods and tested for physical properties,
which consists of organoleptic test, refractive index and specific weight.

Analisis Data

Abstract: Chemical constituents of various tissues of turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) have been extensively investigated.
To date, at least 235 compounds, primarily phenolic compounds and terpenoids have been identified from the species, in-
cluding 22 diarylheptanoids and diarylpentanoids, eight phenylpropene and other phenolic compounds, 68 monoterpenes,
109 sesquiterpenes, five diterpenes, three triterpenoids, four sterols, two alkaloids, and 14 other compounds. Curcumi-
noids (diarylheptanoids) and essential oils are major bioactive ingredients showing various bioactivities in in vitro and in
vivo bioassays. Curcuminoids in turmeric are primarily accumulated in rhizomes. The essential oils from leaves and
flowers are usually dominated by monoterpenes while those from roots and rhizomes primarily contained sesquiterpenes.
The contents of curcuminoids in turmeric rhizomes vary often with varieties, locations, sources, and cultivation condi-
tions, while there are significant variations in composition of essential oils of turmeric rhizomes with varieties and geo-
graphical locations. Further, both curcuminoids and essential oils vary in contents with different extraction methods and
are unstable with extraction and storage processes. As a result, the quality of commercial turmeric products can be mark-
edly varied. While curcumin (1), demethoxycurcumin (2), and bisdemethoxycurcumin (5) have been used as marker com-
pounds for the quality control of rhizomes, powders, and extract (“curcumin”) products, Ar-turmerone (99), -turmerone
(100), and -turmerone (101) may be used to control the product quality of turmeric oil and oleoresin products.
Authentication of turmeric products can be achieved by chromatographic and NMR techniques, DNA markers, with
morphological and anatomic data as well as GAP and other information available.

Abstract
Most of essential oils are produced using simple method steam destillation. The tool
used in this reseach were made by a small workshop. This equipment can be used for
distillation and condensation. But the best process that can be applied to this equipment
is still unknow. The purpose of this study is to obtain the shortest processing time and
optimization of production processes. This condition is achieved by decrease the rate of
increasing temperature of cooling water. With the achievement of this conditions, the
optimization of the essential oil distillation process in oil refining production system can
be determined. The method used in this research is to reduce the temperature of the
water out of the condenser using cooling tower. The best temperature decrease is
obtained at A process with the difference in temperature of the cooling water at 1.5 oC,
2.5oC, 3.5oC, 5.5oC. The decrease of increasing temperature of the cooling water can
increase the capacity process through the addition of process. Optimization of
processing time in 12 hours resulted repetition of the process at 4 hour by 3 times. With
the cooling tower can reduce the rate of increase temperature in cooling water.Yield of
Essential oils increase 29%.
