LESSON PLAN

Theme : Health and people

Form : 2 (level : intermediate )

Objective : Enhancing thinking, listening and writing skills of the students.

Learning outcome(s), students should be able to:

1.1.B take part in conversations and discussion in group while composing the short story.

1.2.A carry out a variety of language functions in group discussion.

1.2.C make plans and arrangements in doing the Chain Sentence game and while composing
the short story.

2.1.A listen carefully to the spoken sentence that is given by the teacher and friends during the
Chain Sentence game.

3.2.C compose a short story based on sentence given in their own group.

Resource materials: A small box, pieces of 4 different coloured paper, A4 papers.

Activities (25 minutes):

Step 1 (5 minutes) :

1.1 Teacher asks every student to pick one piece of coloured paper from the small box that
will go around the students. There will be 5 different coloured pieces of paper in that box.
-“I’ll pass around a small box”
- “there are 5 different coloured paper in this box which are red, black, blue, yellow and
orange”
- “you must choose only one colour”
-“keep that piece of paper with you”

1.2 Then, students must sit in the group according to the same coloured paper that they
choose.
“ok, now please sit in a group according to what colour of your piece of paper that you
chose just now”
“Please move to your group now.”

1.3 Teacher must make sure the entire groups have the same number of members. Otherwise,
teacher will arrange the groups.
1.4 Students must make a line stand in a group. Teacher assigns the group to have a gap
between each group.
1.5 Leader of the group must stand in front of their own group.
“ now, I want every group to stand in a line. Leader of the group must stand in front of
the line”
“your group must stay away from other group so that you will not distract to each other
while doing activities”

Step 2 (7 minutes) :

2.1 Teacher explains about the chain sentence game and the rules to the students.
- “we will play chain sentence games. First, I will go to every leader of your group and
whisper a sentence twice to them”
- “After I’ve finished whisper the sentences to all group, in 5 minutes, all of you, in group,
must pass the sentences through whispering to all your group members one by one. The
last person in the group then must write the sentence in A4 paper given”
- “NO ONE are allowed to talk after you’ve whisper the sentence to your friends, you must
keep quiet till the end of this game”
2.2 Then, teacher goes to each leader of the group and whispers a sentence twice. Every
leader will get different sentence. The leaders will be called as The First Person.
2.3 The leader passes the sentences by whispering to the second person in line. Second
person then whispers the sentence that he/she listens from the first person.
2.4 The last person of every group then must write down of what they have listen from their
other group members on A4 paper given.
2.5 Teacher asks the last person to read aloud what she/he has read in front of the class.
2.6 Teacher then tells the class the sentences that she/he has whispered to every leader at the
beginning of the activity.
- “ok, now, the last person of every group come in front of the class to show the
sentences that you get, we will look together which one of the groups that get the same
sentence given by me”
The sentences are:
1. Exercise regularly and get enough sleep.
2. Eat a balanced diet and avoid oily food.
3. Shampoo hair often with special shampoo.
4. Have a bath at least twice a day.
5. Eat healthy meals and often drink plain water.

Step 3 (13 minutes):

3.1 In a group, teacher asks students to compose a short story from the sentence that they get.
The short story must only have 10 sentences including the sentence given. The sentence
given can be put either at first, last or in middle part of the short story. They will write in
A4 paper given.
- “now,in a group, using the sentence given to your group, compose a short story.

3.2 Teacher asks students to hand in the story to the teacher.
-“every group must hand in the short story by today. You can pass it to me at the end of
this class or after class”

Rationale:

- Enhancing students to give cooperation in doing group work activities


- Enhancing students to have good communication and interaction skills among their
friends
- Enhancing students to learn how to listen to instructions and give instructions well.
- Providing students chances to learn indirectly about the leadership skills.
- Students will know how to work in group in how to tolerate to each other in group.
- Students will give ideas and know how to accept others’ ideas.
- Enhancing students to think creatively, imaginatively and critically in composing the
short story.
