 of
 the
 conference
 is
 to
 highlight
 factors
 that
 affect

maternal
 health,
 pregnancy
 outcomes
 and
 child
 health
 as
 they

relate
 to
 minority
 health
 and
 health
 dispariDes
 including

recommendaDons
for
changes
in
policy
and
health
behaviors.


 Through
 presentaDons
 and
 panel
 discussions,
 the

topics
 to
 be
 covered
 will
 include:
 the
 effects
 of
 poverty
 on

children’s
 mental,
 emoDonal
 and
 behavioral
 health;
 maternal

transmission
 of
 HIV/AIDS;
 the
 effects
 of
 maternal
 stress
 on

perinatal
 development;
 the
 roots
 of
 newborn
 brain
 acDvity
 and

behavior;
 the
 effects
 of
 environmental
 toxins
 on
 child

development
 ‐
 social
 jusDce
 implicaDons;

 maternal
 mental

 will
