Public Information

There are several ways to find a Florida lawyer using the Find a Lawyer link
on the top blue bar of every page on the site. You can search for an attorney
by name, location, section or certification. The Lawyer Referral Service
helps you find a lawyer for your special needs.
Help in the foreclosure crisis
z A variety of web resources for families facing foreclosure and
attorneys helping them is available from The Florida Bar's Consumer
Protection Law Committee.

z Florida's Attorney General has more than 50 investigations open


against mortgage fraud and foreclosure rescue firms. Find out how to
protect you and your home.

z For a referral to an attorney for a low-fee consultation, contact The


Florida Bar Lawyer Referral Service (1-800-342-8011).

z If you are at risk of foreclosure, free housing counseling is available


through www.hud.gov or NeighborWorks National Foreclosure
Mitigation Counseling.

z If you have been served with foreclosure papers, contact your local
legal office immediately at www.floridalawhelp.org ( Find Local
Assistance).
Attorney Consumer Assistance Program (ACAP): Our Client Assistance program is
called the Attorney Consumer Assistance Program (ACAP). ACAP is the department that
handles client complaints and even can resolve some problems before a complaint is
filed. Call the ACAP Hotline - 866/352-0707.

Consumer Information: The Florida Bar provides information for the public on certain
general areas of law as well as specific legal issues in our Consumer Pamphlets.

Speakers Bureau: The Florida Bar has assembled a group of outstanding lawyers
throughout the state who speak to groups within their communities as a public service,

fair and impartial judiciary are provided by the Bar's Committee on Judicial
Independence.

Clients' Security Fund: The Clients' Security Fund was created by The Florida Bar to
help compensate persons who have suffered a loss of money or property due to
misappropriation or embezzlement by an attorney.

Group and Prepaid Legal Services: Prepaid Legal Services plans work by making prior
arrangements with lawyers to provide specified services to plan members at reduced
fees.

Legal Aid/Pro Bono: Legal Aid agencies are the organizations that refer pro bono cases
to attorneys around Florida.
