N2: Don’t know. I was sleeping in class and did not take my test while
it was being given.
N2: I hate that stuff. Why do I need to learn those spelling words
anyhow? Besides, the teacher just does not like me.
N2: Yeah, and they got real mad at me. I got grounded for a whole
week.
N1:Wow!
N2: My parents said I’d better bring home every note, piece of
homework, and study guide the teacher gives to us in class or else….
N1: Yeah! We were just wondering about you and talking about all
the messages that David has to take home every day.
N3: Hey! Did you ever hear about the message that God gave to
Moses and Aaron for Pharaoh?
N3: Let my people go so that they may hold a festival in the dessert
to worship me.
N1: What happened at the first meeting Moses had with Pharaoh?
N2: He was pretty mean. What work did he make the people of Israel
do?
N3” He told the foreman not to give them any straw to make bricks
and to make them gather their own straw. On top of that – they had to
make the same amount of bricks as before.
N2: I’m glad that he is not my dad! My dad makes me pick up sticks
in the yard every time the wind blows outside.
N3: The foreman even asked why they were made to do this and he
was told that the people were lazy and needed to get to work. He
sure realized they were in big trouble having to make the same
amount of bricks without straw provided.
N2: Naw! My dad doesn’t get mad at me; he just grounds me in that
calm way of his. (Mimics dad) “Now, son, you know that is a one
week with no TV or games.” It makes me so mad, but I bite my
tongue.
N3: Then the Forman got mad at Moses and told him that the Lord
would judge him for making them stink to Pharaoh and the officials.
The Forman even told Moses that he had put a sword in their hand to
kill them.
N3: Moses was so grieved that he cried to the Lord asking Him why
He even brought such trouble to the people of Israel. God told him
just wait and see what would happen to Pharaoh, because he would
put His mighty hand against them and Pharaoh would let them go
FREE. HE said he would take the children of Israel as His own
people and establish His covenant with them like he did with
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
N3: When God heard all the groaning, he told Moses that He would
give them the special land where they had lived as aliens and
establish his covenant with them. He was going to free them from
being slaves and redeem them with His outstretched arm, and then
bring them to the land that He had promised Abraham, Isaac, and
Jacob.
N3: You’re right! They did and became discouraged and would not
listen to Moses.
N1: Well, what would your parents think if you did not listen to them?
N3: God wants us to listen to those who are over us. We can talk to
Him about our problems when things do not go well for us like Moses
did. God will help us to make the right choices, and be with us in
times of trouble.
N1: See you next time. Did you say something about blood?
N3: Shhh! That is for next time. See you later boys and girls.
