The marketing in farming


Large scale marketing of farm produce and greater specialization in product processing and
handing are more evident in a well developed economy. Such inputs as fertilizers, insecticides,
managerial planning and consulting service from all parts of the food industry aid the farmers efficiency.

In less organized of developed areas, much of what in grown cannot be shipped long distances
and in inadequately stored. And despite the limited markets, the measures of volume, quality, and price
are not uniform. Therefore, quality is hard to evaluate and maintain.

Packaging plays an important role is resolving some of the marketing and distribution problems
shared by the world’s farmers. While some aspects of packaging are aimed at simple identifications and
the promotion of sales, many types of value of products. Preparation of goods for distribution and sale
involves the use of glass and plastic bottles, metal cans, cardboard cartons and boxes, plastic and paper
bags, metal foils, drums and many other items. Two of the most interesting aspects of the processing
and packaging activities carried on by the food industry involve food additives and food preservation.

The use of food additives in the past only involved salt, smoke, vinegar, and spices. Today’s
additives are much more sophisticated, however acids protect against decomposition or fermentation,
synthetic flovoring agents impart flavor and adjust for seasonal variations, food coloring changes
appearance. Some additives retain of improve texture, aid in processing of manufacture, and facilitate
packaging. Perhaps the most important additives are those that add vitamins and minerals of replace
those which have been lost due to some other process, such as the milling of grain of the pasteurization
of milk.

The earliest methods of food preservation were smoking drying, salting, fermenting, packing.
Today there are several basic modern methods used for preserving food. One uses heat to kill or
suppress the growth of microorganisms and to activate enzymes. Canned food is heated and then sealed
to prevent contamination. The chief preservative in use today include dehydrates, antioxidants and anti
sprouting agents ,and updated versions of the earliest methods in which, salts, sugars, acids, smoke, and
other natural agents kept food edible indefinitely. Some food require specific techniques, such as
pasteurization of dairy products, blanching of certain fruits, and irradiation of potatoes.

Scientist, engineers and those in all phases of the farming business conduct research on
handling, processing, sorting, labeling, packaging, storing, transporting, and distributing agricultural
products. Not the least of these areas of the research is aimed at improving means of transportation.
Without adequate transportation facilities we would all be limited to the foods that grow in the climate
and soil of our own neighborhood. To hold down transportation and handling costs, and to reduce
spoilage losses, it is necessary to improve present loading, refrigeration, and cargo securing systems for
shipping agricultural products.

Pemasaran skala besar dan spesialisasi produk pertanian yang lebih besar dalam pengolahan
produk dan menyerahkan lebih jelas dalam perkembangan ekonomi yang baik. Masukan seperti pupuk,
insektisida, perencanaan manajerial dan layanan konsultasi dari semua bagian dari industri makanan
bantuan efisiensi petani.

Di dalam area yang kurang teroganisir yang dikembangkan, kebanyakan dari apa yang tumbuh
tidak dapat dikirimkan dalam jarak yang jauh dan tidak cukup untuk disimpan. Dan meskipun pasar
terbatas, ukuran volume, kualitas, dan harga yang tidak seragam. Oleh karena itu, kualitasnya sulit untuk

Pengemasan memainkan peranan penting yaitu untuk menyelesaikan beberapa masalah


pemasaran dan distribusi bersama oleh petani di dunia. Sementara beberapa aspek kemasan ditujukan
pada identifikasi yang sederhana dan promosi penjualan, banyak jenis nilai produk. Persiapan barang
untuk distribusi dan penjualan melibatkan penggunaan botol kaca dan plastik, kaleng logam, kardus dan
kotak karton, kantong plastik dan kertas foil logam, drum dan banyak benda lainnya. Dua aspek yang
paling menarik dari kegiatan pengolahan dan pengemasan yaitu dilakukan oleh industri makanan
melibatkan tambahan makanan dan pengawetan makanan.

Penggunaan aditif makanan di masa lalu hanya melibatkan garam, asap, cuka, dan rempah-
rempah. Aditif saat ini jauh lebih canggih, namun asam melindungi terhadap dekomposisi atau
fermentasi, agen perasa memberi sintetik rasa dan menyesuaikan variasi musiman, penampilan
perubahan pewarna makanan. Beberapa aditif mempertahankan perbaikan tekstur-nya, bantuan dalam
pengolahan pembuatan, dan memfasilitasi kemasan. Mungkin aditif yang paling penting adalah mereka
yang menambahkan vitamin dan mineral menggantikan dengan yang telah hilang yang disebabkan oleh
beberapa proses lain, seperti penggilingan gandum dari pasteurisasi susu.

Metode awal pengawetan makanan diantaranya pengasapan kering, penggaraman, fermentasi,


pengepakan. Saat ini ada beberapa metode modern dasar yang digunakan untuk mengawetkan
makanan. Satu menggunakan panas untuk membunuh atau menekan pertumbuhan mikroorganisme
dan untuk mengaktifkan enzim. Makanan kaleng dipanaskan dan kemudian disegel untuk mencegah
kontaminasi. Kepala pengawet yang digunakan saat ini termasuk dehidrasi, antioksidan dan anti tunas,
dan versi terbaru dari metode paling awal di mana, garam, gula, asam, asap, dan agen alam lainnya

untuk mengurangi kerugian pembusukan, perlu untuk meningkatkan pengiriman ini, pendinginan, dan
