I. Kegiatan Pembelajaran
1. Mengamati dan menyimak contoh classyfying report text yang diberikan .
2. Melakukan tanya jawab secara lisan terkait dengan informasi tertentu dari contoh classyfying
report text.
3. Mengidentifikasi informasi tertentu terkait topik dan fungsi sosial dari teks
4. Menjelaskan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan teks

III. Tujuan Pembelajaran
Melalui serangkaian kegiatan pembelajaran, siswa dapat:
1. Mengidentifikasi tujuan komunikatif, struktur umum dan fitur kebahasaan teks report
berbentuk classifying report
2. Menganalisis teks report berbentuk classifying report
3. Mempresentasikan hasil analisis dengan baik.
4. Membentuk karakter: disiplin, jujur, peduli, tanggung jawab dan komunikatif.
IV. Metode Pembelajaran
Problem Based Learning

Problem Based Learning yaitu dengan menjelaskan tujuan pembelajaran, menyajikan gambar untuk
memunculkan masalah, memotivasi peserta didik untuk terlibat dalam pemecahan masalah.
Selanjutnya membantu peserta didik mendefinisikan dan mengorganisasi historical report text,
mendorong siswa mengumpulkan informasi yang sesuai,membagi tugas, menyajikan hasil dan
menganalisis serta mengevaluasi.

V. Materi Ajar
Teks Report berbentuk Classifying report

Report text is a text which presents information about something, as it is. It is as a result of systematic
observation and analyses.
Classifying report is a report text which presents information about how something is organised and
described in a field or a class and subclass hierarchy

a. Social Function
 To organise and describe a field or topic into a class and subclass hierarchy

b. Generic Structure
 General statement (Stating classification of general aspect of thing; animal, public place,
plant, etc which will be discussed in general)

 Description (Describing the thing which will be discussed in detail; class and subclass )
c. Language Feature of Report Text
 Introducing group or general aspect
 Using conditional logical connection; when, so, etc
 Using simple present tense

Example of Classifying report text

A disaster is something that does a lot of damage. Sometimes, disasters hurt living things and the place where
they live. These disasters are called environmental disasters. Water pollution can be an environmental
disaster. Water is polluted when people put things such as rubbish into it. Air pollution can also be an
environmental disaster. Air can be polluted by things such as gas or smoke.
Oil Spills
Sometimes oil is spilled into water. Most oil spills are accidents. The most common accidents are when an oil
tanker hits another oil tanker, or when an oil tanker hits the rocks.
Toxic Gas
Toxic means poisonous. Companies use toxic gas to make chemicals. Large amounts of toxic gas can be very
dangerous. It can hurt or kill animals and humans.
Nuclear Power
Nuclear power can be very useful, but it can also be very dangerous if something goes wrong. If there is an
accident, it can cause dangerous radioactive fallout. This cannot be seen, but it quickly spreads over a large
area.
Smog
Smog is a big cloud of polluted air. It is like a very thick fog. It hangs just above the ground. In some big cities, a
lot of coal and oil are used. These can make smog. In some cities, there are lots of cars and trucks on the road.
The fumes from the cars and trucks can make smog. The more pollution there is, the worse the smog gets.
