Subject: RE: Current Activities/Engagements with the FBI

Met with members of CJIS and USVISIT leadership Friday (8/27) via VTC

1. What Opting Out of Secure Communities Means in 2013

- When SC deployment plan concludes in 2013, ICE will ask CJIS to send all

queries

- In the meantime, any jurisdiction with concerns must contact the state and

SC in writing.

- CJIS committed to assisting SC with any request as needed, and share the

goal of getting every jurisdiction activated.

2. How to Handle Requests to De-activate Jurisdictions/Site Participating in

SC

- approach/solution will be tailored to special concerns/sensitivities of each

request

- may involve limited responses (ie, no second message back)

- we stressed the discussion should be about the real issues and not make it

about the technology if the sensitivity/concern is ICE collaboration.

3. How to Get Cook County Activated?

- CJIS will reach out to personal contacts in Chicago PD and Cook Co SO.

- then, CJIS will reach out to the state

- CJIS will then advise/consult on next steps
