Coming of Age Paragraph

Writing

For this assignment, I had to explain why the movie “Stand by Me” can

be referred to as a “coming of age” and explain how the events changed the

four friends.

The expectations for this assignment were: Knowledge and

Understanding- understanding the content, Thinking- use of processing skills

and use of critical, creative thinking processes, Communication- use of

conversation and expression and organization. I met these expectations by

giving two examples of what two of the main characters said and did. I

compared the two main characters. I explained how the characters were

before the journey, during and after.

Form this assignment, I learnt how a short journey can change a child

into an adolescent and the way kids are starting to discover themselves and

the outside world. I also learnt new words and expressions.

I am happy with the organization of the assignment because, it meets

all the expectations, it has two states, two examples from the movie, two

explanations, an introduction and a conclusion. The assignment is detailed

and it explains well the topic. I could improve my grammar and my spelling, I

could express myself a bit better and I could communicate more with the

reader, by doing more grammar and spelling exercises, bye paying more
attention on the writing and by doing more essays, to gain experience.

Road to Chlifa Test

Reading

For this assignment, I had to answer several questions about the novel

we had to read, “Road to Chlifa”. The expectations for this assignment were

Knowledge and Understanding- to prove that we red the book and were

paying attention to the classes, Communication and Application- we had to

write a short paragraph about the novel with a certain topic.

I met these expectations by answering all the questions (except one)

correct, by reading all the novel with attention and by listening to the

teachers comments about the novel.

From this assignment, I learned that if you read the novel, you do your

home works and you pay attention to the class you can have success and

also that based on one novel can be asked many variations of questions.

I am happy with my answers for this assignment because they show

that I did my home works, I red the novel carefully and I was prepared. I

could improve by answering the question I did wrong by doing the following:

paying more attention to the details, focusing more and remembering that

the narrator can be a character as well.

 Human Rights Presentation – Discrimination

Speaking

For this assignment, I had to talk about discrimination, by playing the

role of a guest in a talk show. My theme was women discrimination.

The expectations for this assignment were to make a short scene and

to present my theme. Knowledge and Understanding- to show that I knew

and I understood what I present, Communication: making eye contact,

speaking with the public. I met these expectations by playing my quest role,

asking the public questions, saying details about women discrimination,

giving examples from Quran.

From this assignment I learnt that Muslim women are discriminated the

most that they have a hard life with no rights to choose and no liberty.

I am happy with the presentation itself because I was prepared, I had

information with me, I talked about a subject I already knew a few

information it always kept my attention. I could improve the information part

and the visual part by doing the following: telling all the information I

wanted to and showing my video I made and some pictures I think would be
ok.

Rite of Passage Presentation

Media and Social Cultural

For this presentation I had to present and make a poster about a ritual

in Papua New Guineea, called Kovave, which is a rite of passage for the

children from that country.

The expectations for this assignment were: Knowledge and

Understanding- to have information, to show that you understood the topic;

Visual- good poster with pictures and a few information; Communication – to

speak loud and clear, answer the questions the public asked, eye contact. I

met these expectations by doing a good poster with pictures, information

and colour, telling the public my information and by answering the questions.

From this assignment I learnt the rituals people from Papua New

Guineea do to initiate the young boys and girls into the adulthood.

I am happy with the poster of the assignment because it has pictures,

colour and information. I could improve my speaking part by doing the

following: being more confident in myself, trying to not be so nervous

because it happens to forget what I learnt because of the nervous felling,

more practise with speaking in public.
