Dracula
Author: Bram Stoker
Type: Scary-fiction
I always like to
choose books that
are able to keep you
interested all the
time. Dracula is one
of those old stories
that make you
believe that maybe
vampires exist in
our world and that
makes the story
more exciting and
Theme
The main idea of the book is how a person must
be courageous in a difficult situation and try to
survive even if his own life is in danger.
Even if the story about Dracula is half fiction and
half folk story, the different moments the main
characters cross during the book, makes us
understand that many situations in life are
dangerous and you must be careful about
everything.
Sometimes in life your must be brave and do
things that you maybe don’t want, but have to,
because a lot of people that your care about can
be in dangerous and you are the only one how
can save them.
Some of the moments in the book that make me
believe what I wrote:
• When the three men started the trip to
Dracula’s Castle to kill him and save the
people of England from his dangerous
intentions.
• When Arthur (Lucy’s husband) had to
hammer a sharp piece of wood through her
heart and cut off her head, sow she could
rest in peace and not be a vampire for the
rest of the eternity.

Setting
The story takes place in Transylvania (Romania)
and in London (England).
The story is settled in Transylvania many years
ago, in the fifteenth century.
The situation between the count Dracula and
the other main characters passes in around 2
months, but the stories about the count are
from much longer time.
Plot
• Jonathan Harker, a British lawyer who works
finding houses for rich people received a
letter from a count called Dracula, who
wanted a house in London.
• Jonathan is invited to Dracula’s castle in
Transylvania to finish the paperwork of the
house.
• Stranges things started to happen in the
count Dracula’s castle and Jonathan became
a prisoner and felt that his life was in
dangerous.
• Jonathan realized that the count Dracula
was a Vampire.
• Jonathan’s best friend (Arthur) wife died by
the teeth of the count Dracula and became
a vampire.
• Jonathan’s wife Mina was attached by
Dracula and started to became a vampire.
• Jonathan, Arthur and Dr. Van Helsing
decided to kill the count Dracula to save
Mina and the people of England.
• The count Dracula dies.

The Characters
Count Dracula: main character, the one who the
story is about.
Take place in the entire story and are the

that happens.

Dracula’s most important victim.
He is the man who realized that the count was a
vampire and takes part in the death of the count
Dracula.

of Dracula’s victims.
She is the one who leads the men to Dracula’s
castle.
Arthur: second character, Jonathan’s friend and
Lydia’s husband.
He helps Jonathan to kill Dracula.
Lucy: second character, Arthur’s wife and one of
Dracula’s victims.
She becomes a vampire and kill some children.
Dr. Van Helsing: second character, Arthur’s
professor and doctor.
He helps the man to kill Dracula and knew a lot
about vampires.

Critique
I really liked the book because it proves me that
very old story about things or people that did
exist or not in the past can be very exciting and
mysterious. Most of the book makes you believe
that vampires could exist in some moment of
the life and it always try to keep you interested
about everything that happens in the story.
The best part of the book was when the count
Dracula was attacking young ladies to convert
them into vampires. With his red eyes, his white
and cold face.
Those are moments when you really want to
know what happens later and makes you feel a
little bit scared and nervous.
This is a book that I would definitely recommend
to my friends, because it’s easy to read and
understand, and the story is not complicated at
all. The main characters are very easy to
recognize and the count is definitely a very
interesting vampire.
I would read other book by this author, it seems
to be the type of stories that I like. A little bit of
fiction and a little bit of folk story.
I learned that many things can happen in life
and even if most of them are not truthfully you
must do and believe in facts. Be always careful
about everything and do not trust in everybody,
you could never know what they are thinking.

Conclusion
The most important thing about the book is that
it is able to make you feel satisfy about the
story. Even if you know that many thing are not
real, when you read this book it makes you
believe the opposite.
It is a very good book that let you imagine the
places and situations without seeing them.
I recommend it for everybody who likes
suspense.
