God Loves Kids creates lasting change for children and Wilson Kazungu is a wonderful example of
the difference that child sponsorship makes in the life of a child.

Wilson Kazungu is a shining illustration the children of Africa. Now

of the difference that child sponsorship
makes in a life. Wilson’s life would never be
the same after his father and uncle were
murdered in 1983 during the civil war in
Uganda. Becoming an orphan in Uganda is
like being diagnosed with a terminal illness.
Uganda is a country not only torn by
poverty and war, it is a country where an
estimated 64,000 people died from AIDS in
2009. In this African nation, 1.2 million
children have been orphaned by the AIDS
epidemic. However, in the midst of all of
this tragedy, God had a different plan for
Wilson Kazungu.
Over 25 years ago God filled Lovie
Phillips’ heart with the burning desire to help
Uganda is the location of Uganda
Gospel Restoration Center, which
is God Loves Kids’ first children's
home and school outside of India.
After the tragic death of his father,
little Wilson was admitted into
UGRC. There he grew into an
aspiring young adult. Wilson
credits his current success to the
love and nurturing he received
through God Loves Kids, growing
from a young orphan into a
professional and respected youth
pastor in his church where he is
affecting future generations.

Uganda she visited Wilson at
the huge furniture
distribution store where he
worked as their main driver.  ▶ You taught me the Word of God since

is expected of him."  No
wonder he now has an even
better job and travels to
other African countries.  ▶ I thank you so much for all the

Lovie was thrilled to
recently receive Wilson's
testimony and his
expressions of appreciation
to her. However, she would
be the first to tell you
that she could do nothing
without people just like you
who sponsor these children,
even sacrifice to do so. 
The payday is seeing a life
changed forever and getting
a testimony like Wilson's. 
We receive many and wish we
could share all of them with
you.
This is the letter that Wilson
recently sent to Mama Lovie:
Dear Mum,
Greetings in Jesus’ name! Let me hope
all is well with you and Daddy. I so much
want to thank God for you and Daddy Syvelle
because he has kept you and your devotion
for God alive, and that has really enabled you
to be what you are. May all the glory be back
to Jesus for you!
God is faithful who has enabled us to
see each other again. I kept trusting God in
all my life to see you but now thanks be to
God he did it for me in the nation of Rwanda.
It was really a memorable and wonderful time
in my life. I pray to God that one day I can
see Daddy Syvelle. May God bless your
family to be ministers of the Gospel of God
like you. Mummy and Daddy, I would like to
thank you from the depth of my heart for the
things you did for me, especially the
following:
my childhood. It has kept me safe not only in
our nation but also other countries where I
go (East Africa). I remember whenever you
used to come and teach us the Word; for sure
nothing I can pay, but may God bless you
▶ God being my witness, the foundation
you gave kept me safe until the day I married
my wife in righteousness. Who could do that
if it were not God through you?

fees. I am able to stand as a responsible
man. I can read letters, sign posts, have had
chances to sit with great people and go to
interesting places, all because of you.
When I was still at UGRC, in the evening
after school I used to go and dig for money
and bought two piglets. They multiplied and I
reached my senior two (Secondary School)
but school fees were not easy to get for
UGRC. I decided to sell my pigs and went to
Kampala City and joined a driving school. In
your presence I thank my brother Godfrey
Gatete because in Kampala I stayed with him
and he looked after me in everything while
pursuing my driving. May God bless him!
After qualifying in the driving school, I started
as a conductor in a minibus for 7 years until I
got another job of driving, and now am again
working with another company as a senior
driver. I also do ministry work. I fellowship
and minister at Exodus Christian Church here
in Kampala and I am the Youth Pastor. God
has been so good to me at both my place of
work and ministry. I give Him all the praise
and glory.
In 2006, I decided to marry my wife
Annet and God has blessed us with two
children – Deborah age 4 years and David
age 1 year. They have sent their lovely
greeting to you. For sure, God has blessed
me with a wonderful family and spouse. My
wife loves God and is a member of the choir
in our church.
Daddy and Mummy, may God keep you
safe and pure until the day we meet our Lord
Jesus Christ and the blessing of God to fall
upon you.

SONAM CHAUDHARY
An Exceptional Young Nepali Christian
Needs Our Help!
At God Loves Kids we sometimes have the
privilege of presenting to you someone very
special.  Of course we think all of our kids are
special, but every now and then there is a unique
individual whose life speaks to us.  Sonam
Chaudhary is one of those rare young people
whose life is a wonderful story.  She has
exceeded all of our expectations and we believe,
given the chance, she will do great things.
Though we did not have a sponsor for her,
Sonam was accepted into Mercy Children's Home
in 2005.  Her parents' income was only $26 a
month, making it impossible to provide even the
bare necessities of life for the family of five.  From
the first day she was with God Loves Kids she
excelled in her school work and very quickly
became the top student in her school and
maintained that status throughout her time with
us.  She also made a deep personal commitment
to the Lord in 2006 and has been very faithful in
her walk with God.
At the age of 15, she had memorized
hundreds of Bible verses and taught
them to the other children in our home.
Sonam went on to study business
management in college.  However, from the first
day she came to Mercy Children's Home she
always said she wanted to be a nurse.  As soon
as possible she started taking the preparatory
classes so she would be ready to go to nursing
school if the Lord opened the door and provided
for her to do so.  In 2010 God did just that -
opened the door for her to begin nurses
training.  Thousands of candidates apply for the
Nepali government's staff nursing program and
sometimes the test is only given once every three
years so the odds were not in Sonam's favor.  Not
only did God open the door for Sonam to train to
become a nurse, she was the first choice and only
one other girl was selected to attend. To add to
the excitement after her four years of training, she
will be given a job at one of the government
hospitals in Nepal with a very good salary by local
standards.  Last year about this time we were
faced with the task of believing God to provide
financially for Sonam to begin her studies. We
challenged our friends in the states to pray and

what is more important we
challenged the girls in Mercy
Children's Home to pray.
God gave us one
miracle
We are praying for
another one.  Last year at the
last minute, Sonam's
generous sponsor and a few
other GLK friends provided the
funds to make the first year
possible.  We were overjoyed that Sonam would
be starting her nurses training but also touched
that a house full of young girls learned that they
can pray and trust God to meet their needs.  received proper care, physical covering and
Sonam has now completed the first year to be a
licensed nurse with top grades.  Today we are
faced with the fact that although we have tried
throughout this past year to raise funds for future
years to date we have not been successful. Once
again, we have no money for her tuition.  If Sonam
doesn't go back to school this year, she won't
have another chance at this program.  We have
decided to step out in faith and trust that God will
touch someone's heart to help this brilliant Godly
girl have a good future, but we are running out of
time.  We have to send the funds before the 1st of
May.
 Sonam is a gift from God and will have a
great influence in her community for the cause of
Christ.  We feel compelled to make a special
appeal for her.
This is what Sonam said in her own
words:
"I have a deep desire to continue my
education because I want to be qualified.  I
have a desire to become a nurse and serve
people and help my family.  Whatever God
wants me to do in ministry, I want to be ready
for it and whatever I become and do, I will
always be involved in God's work directly or
indirectly.  I will never leave God.
Everything I have learned by being with
God Loves Kids will push me to do God's work. 
A house full of
young girls learned
that they can pray
and trust God
I am glad to be a part of the home and I would
like to continue to live at Mercy Children's
Home, run by Rev. Ram Mohan under the
umbrella of God Loves Kids.  Here I have
spiritual nourishment.  Because of your
prayers and financial support I am able to
continue my studies.  I will always remain
grateful to Sir Ram Mohan and to Mama Lovie
for loving and ministering to me."
As we trust God that He will provide through
someone who reads this story, we want to let you
know what it will cost to help Sonam.  She needs
$1,500 by the end of April for the semester
beginning in May, so that she does not lose her
place at the nurses' college.  In September, she
will need $1,200 more for the semester beginning
in October.  She will need these amounts again for
the May and October semesters of 2012 and 2013
- a total of $8,100 for her to become a licensed
nurse.  We know this is not something that
everyone can do, but all it takes is the right
people knowing that they will make a life-
changing investment in this precious young lady's
life to get it done.  Maybe you cannot do it all, but
every gift we receive will help us in this endeavor. 
After we pay the $1,500 in May, if we have three
people who will commit to $100 a month for the
next two years, she will have the funds each time
her tuition is due.
Be assured that whatever you can
send right now - no matter how small -
will be a blessing.
