Health: Candidates should be of sound physique, free from any physical defect. Minimum re-
quirements are: Height 150cms; Weight 45 kgs; Myopia and Hypermetropia, if any, not to exceed
± 4.00D in each eye. No squint and no colour blindness - partial or full. No relaxation in these
standards will be made. Candidates may ensure that they fulfill these standards before applying.
Suitable relaxation in height & weight will be given to female candidates.
RESERVATIONS:
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped categories shall be as per Presidential Di-
rectives. Candidates belonging to OBC category but not covered under ‘Non-Creamy Layer’ and
thus, not entitled to OBC reservation, should indicate their category as ‘GENERAL’. The OBC (non
creamy layer) candidates are required to submit the requisite certificate in the prescribed format

SELECTION:
The selection process will consist of Written Test followed by Interview. Eligible can-
didates will be required to appear for a Written Examination, information of which will be provided
in the Admit card. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the Written Test will
be intimated to appear for Group Discussion/Interview.
Written Test:• Written test will comprise General Awareness, Numerical Ability, General English,
Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning and separate paper for each discipline.
• Eligible registered candidates will have to appear for written test at designated centre at their
own expense.• Written Test will be held simultaneously at Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad,
Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. Candidates are required to choose one of these cities
as Test Centre and no change under any circumstances will be allowed subsequently. The
Company however reserves the right to add/delete any centre and allocate appropriate centre to
the candidate at its discretion.• Likely date for written test is 15th May, 2011 (Sunday).

Group Discussion/Interview:Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the
Written Test will be intimated to appear for Group Discussion/Interview (which may held at short

TRAINING & PROBATION: Candidates selected as Management Trainee(Technical) will be placed
on training for one year. After successful completion of training, the candidates shall be placed
under probation for one year.
EMOLUMENTS:
Selected candidates will be offered a basic pay of ‘20600/- p.m. in the scale of ‘20600-3%-
46500/-(E-1). On successful completion of training, they will be designated as Junior Managers
in the same scale of pay. Besides Basic Pay, the MTs(Technical) will also be paid Dear-
ness Allowance. They will also be entitled for other perquisites and benefits such as
PF, Gratuity and other perks & allowances as per rules of the Company in vogue. The
CTC would be around ‘ 7.5 lakhs p.a.
An amount of ‘5000/- per month will be deducted from the total emoluments during
the period of training and probation, as retention amount, on returnable basis on
confirmation of service in the Company after successful completion of training and

probation period (two years). The retention amount will be forfeited, on leaving the
service/termination of service before confirmation. As this would be direct recruit-
ment on initial basic, the Company will not bear any liability on account of Salary/ leave
salary/ pension contribution etc., of previous employment, if any.

For admission to 1st Semester Diploma Courses in Engineering/
Technology, Lateral Admission to 3rd Semester Engineering/ Technology
& 1st Semester/ 1st Year Non-Engineering Diploma Courses.
The Diploma Entrance Test (DET)-2011 for admission into 1st Semester Diploma Courses in
Engineering/ Technology/ Lateral Admission of the State Candidates into 3rd Semester Diploma
courses and 1st semester/ 1st year Non-Engineering Diploma Courses in MOM/HMC&T/ Pharmacy
will be conducted on 15.05.2011 (Sunday) at selected places inside & outside the State.
ELIGIBILITY:
A) (i) Admission to 1st Semester of Engineering / Technology:The candidates appearing
or having passed 10th Standard Examination of Board of Secondary Education, Orissa or any
examination equivalent thereto with at least 35% of Marks in aggregate having pass in Math-
ematics are eligible to apply. However, the candidates are required to produce their original pass
certificate along with original mark sheet of 10th Standard examination during counseling.
(ii)Admission to 3 rd Semester under Lateral Entry Scheme (20% supernumerary
seats):
The candidates having passed 10th standard examination with Two year ITI pass certificate are
eligible to apply. In regard to CoE trade the candidate should have passed one year BBBT and six
month advance module with completion certificate of specialized module issued by the Principal
in order to become eligible. The ITI candidates having passed in Computer Operator and Program-
ming Assistant (+2 entry level qualification) are only eligible for Admission to Computer Science
& Engineering and IT Branch. The candidates appearing or having passed +2 Science with
vocational/ Technical are also eligible to apply. However, the candidates are required to produce
their original pass certificate along with original mark sheet of qualifying examination during
counseling.
Age: Minimum 14 years for all courses except Mining/Drilling and Minimum 16 years for Mining/
Drilling as on 01.07.2011. Upper Age has no bar.
Reservation: Reservation to different categories as per norms specified by Government of
Orissa will be applicable for Orissa State candidates only.
Outside State Candidates: Out side State candidates are also eligible to appear the Diploma
Entrance Test for admission into 1st Semester of 3 year Diploma Engineering Courses against
15% seats reserved for them in Private Engineering Schools & Polytechnics only. Outside
State Candidates are not eligible for Lateral admission into 3 rd Semester.
B)For admission into Non-Engineering Diploma Courses:
(i) Modern Office Management
Pass 10+2 Examination in Science/Arts/ Commerce from the Council of Higher Secondary Edu-
cation of Orissa or its equivalent examination recognized by CHSE.
(ii)Hotel Management & Catering Technology
Pass +2 Examinations in Science/Arts/ Commerce from the Council of Higher Secondary Educa-
tion of Orissa or its equivalent Examination, obtained at least 50% Mark (45% in case of reserved
category) at the qualifying examination.
(iii) Pharmacy: Pass in +2 Science Examination from the Council of Higher Secondary Educa-
tion, Orissa or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics as approved by
PCI.
(iv) Garment Design & Fashion Technology and Beauty Culture: Pass in 10th Standard
Examination of Board of Secondary Education, Orissa or any examination equivalent thereto
with at least 35% of Marks.
In respect of non Engineering Diploma courses, the candidates appearing at the qualifying
examination are also eligible to apply. However they have to produce the pass certificate of the
qualifying examination with minimum percentage of marks as mentioned above during counsel-
ling.
Age: minimum 16 years in case of (B) (i), (ii), (iii) & minimum 14 years in case of (B) (iv) as on
01.07.2011 and upper Age has no bar.
Reservation: Reservation to different categories as per norms specified by Government of
Orissa will be applicable.
Seats remaining vacant in MOM, HMC&T and GD&FT courses after exhausting the
entire merit list of Women Candidates shall be filled up by general merit list of Male
candidates.

1. Educational Qualifications. Candidates should have passed the 10th standard (Matriculation examination).
2.Age: Candidates should have been bom between: 01 Oct 1990 to 30 Sep 1994 (Both dates inclusive). 3.

•During the initial training period,stipend of Rs.5700/-pm will be admissible but on 2 . successful completion of
initial training an amount equal to the minimum of scale as mentioned below, less stipend already paid, shall be
admissible with retrospective effect. On completion of initial training, they will be placed in the Pay Band
Rs.5200-20200. in addition they will be paid Grade Pay @Rs.2000/ plus MSP @Rs. 2000/- plus DA. 6.Promo-
tion: Promotion prospects exist up to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer-I (equivalent to Subedar Major) with
pay scale of Rs 9300-34800 plus Grade Pay @Rs.4800/- Plus MSP @Rs. 2000/- plus DA. Opportunities for
promotion to commissioned officer also exist for those who perform well and qualify the prescribed examina-
tions/selection process and meet the eligibility criteria. 7.Perquisites: • During the entire period of training and
thereafter, sailors are given books, reading material, uniform, food and accommodation etc. free of cost.
•Sailors are entitled to medical treatment and Leave Travel Concession for self and dependents, Group Housing
Benefits and other privileges. Insurance cover. Sailors also have the privilege to avail Annual and Casual Leave
as per current regulations. Children education and house rent allowances are also admissible. Post retirement
benefits include pension, gratuity and Leave encashment.
SELECTION PROCEDURE : 8. The application format is given at the end of this advertisement. The selection
procedure is as follows:(a) Application will be received only through ORDINARY POST. Application received
through speed post/ registered post or couriers will be rejected.(b)All original certificates and mark sheets are to
be produced at the time of screening (c) Preliminary selection, PFT and Medical Examination, may take 3-4
days.(d) Candidates declared Medically Temporary Unfit in the intiat recruitment medical could avail specialist
review from the specified Military Hospital within a maximum period of 21 days. No further review/appeal is
permissible if declared unfit in the specialist review.(e) Candidates declared Medically Permanent unfit in the
intial recruitment medical can appeal for specialist opinion in a Military Hospital on payment of Rs 40 t- by
Military Receivable Order (MRO) on Government Treasury within 21 days. Medical fitness certificate other than
that of the specialist opinion In a Military Hospital will not be considered. Ha further review/appeal is
permissible.(f)The candidates who qualify in all respects will be short listed for Final screening depending upon
the vacancies. Candidates selected in the Final Screening will be send to INS Chilka for training.(g) The
candidate's selection pertaining to a particular batch is valid for that batch only. Qualified candidates whose
names do not appear m the final select list cannot claim admission for the next batch. These candidates wHI
have to undergo the selection procedure afresh provided that they meet the eligibility criteria for the fresh
batch.(h) No enquiry wilt be entertained regarding recruitment / enrolment after a period of six months.
(i) AH candidates selected in preliminary screening wil be forwarded Police Verification form and the candidates
will be required to submit the same to INS Chtftca after getting their antecedents verified on the form from the

4. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS : a. All educational qualifications

tutions in India or abroad. If grades are awarded instead of
marks, candidates should clearly indicate the numerical equiva-
lent. NHB reserves the right to vary the number of posts in each
category depending on the need and also may modify the quali-
fications prescribed for the posts. b. Persons serving in State/
Central Governments and Public Sector Undertakings should

5. MODE OF SELECTION :i) The selection will be made on the

8. RELAXATION FOR THE VICTIMS OF 1984 RIOTS:
The children and dependent family members of those killed in the 1984 riots will get 05 (five years)
years age relaxation. SC/ST/OBC relaxation, as per Govt. instructions will be in addition. Under
this category, a candidate can apply against vacancies in any State/UT. If he fulfills other condi-
tions. However, to avail the present age relaxation, the candidate has to produce a certificate to
that effect from the concerned District Collectors, wherein the victim was killed. The children and
dependent family members in this clause would mean son/daughter including adopted son/daugh-
ter and spouse or children or brother or sister in the case of unmarried Govt. servant who was
wholly dependent on the Govt. servant at the time of his killing in the riot.
9. RELAXATION TO CANDIDATE DOMICILED IN J&K STATE.
Upper age limit up to 5 years is relaxable for those persons who had ordinarily been domiciled in
the state of J&K during the period from 1/1/1980 to 31/12/1989. The persons claiming relaxation
under this category should produce a certificate to the effect that they had been domiciled in the
state of J&K during the period from 1/1/80 to 31/12/89 from the District Magistrate within whose

Women Scientists Fellowship Scheme (WOS-B) - 2011 of
Department of Science & Technology, (SEED), New Delhi
Coordinated by M ACS - Agharkar Research Institute, Pune
The Fellowship Scheme for Women Scientists
for societal programmes is initiative of the De-
partment of Science & Technology. This scheme
is addressed to women scientists and technolo-
gists who have “break in their careers” due to
social responsibilities but have desire to return
to mainstream science and work as bench-level
scientists. Women scientists desiring to apply
for this scheme are required to develop their
own research project / proposals demonstrating
science and technological applications for soci-
etal benefits. Objectives : a. Provide an oppor-
tunity for women scientists to re-enter into ac-
tive research after a break in career, through
support for S&T based R&D projects addressing
the needs of people in unorganized urban or rural
areas and b. Provide an opportunity for S&T
capacity building of women on issues relevant
in societal programmes. Project Proposals For
: a. Research, development and adaptation of
technology to improve the quality of life and
provide additional opportunities for income gen-
eration in rural areas or urban slums. b. Adapta-
tion & transfer of an innovative technology de-
veloped at laboratory level to field. c. Capacity
building of applicant in technology areas rel-

a. The project proposal must show an active associa-
tion with a field agency in regard to implementation of
the project irrespective of the fact whether the candi-
date is attached to an educational institution or R&D
institution or any other agency. A letter to that effect
from field agency is required. b. A certificate from the
host institution, for extending infrastructure! or admin-
istrative support for the project must be enclosed with
the application. Similarly, a certificate from the identi-
fied field agency showing the agreement to get associ-
ated with the project is also required. c. If the proposal
includes pre-clinical study on animals or clinical trials
on humans, necessary ethical clearance following ICMR/
CPCSEA guidelines must be sought.
Who Are Not Eligible
a. Candidate already having a permanent job or fellow-
ship will not be considered. b. Candidates who are al-
ready registered for Ph.D are not eligible as this is not
a Ph.D fellowship. Duration of Fellowship: The schol-
arship will be given initially for duration of two years.
The period may be extended to the third year in excep-
tional cases, if recommended by Experts during peri-
odic reviews.
Selection Mechanism: ACommittee of Experts will be
involved in the selection process. The two-tier selec-
tion process will be adopted involving initial screening
and subsequent individual presentation by the screened-
in candidates before a group of Experts. The selected
candidates will be informed by post. The list of selected
candidates will be displayed on the website.
