Director of Activities

Responsibility: The Director of Activities shall identify and assess the needs of ASWSUV and
shall establish and organize activities for the ASWSUV student body. The
Director of Activities will manage and lead the Event Assistant and the Student
Activities Board.

Duties: The Director of Activities shall have and exercise the following powers and
duties:

A. Perform duties in accordance with the ASWSUV Constitution and By-Laws


B. Provide at least two (2) large-scale events per semester
C. Manage the Event Assistant ensuring the position provides creative event publicity and
monthly reoccurring bowling event.
D. Manage, coordinate, and utilize the Student Activities Board to provide at least one (1) event
per month per member.
E. Organize and lead weekly meetings with Event Assistant and Student Activities Board.
F. Create a monthly activities calendar in coordination with the Event Assistant, the Student
Activities Board, and share with the Office of Student Involvement.
G. Create, communicate, and delegate to the Event Assistant and the Student Activities Board
an agenda/timeline for each event.
H. Create and sustain strategic short and long-term plans in regards to programs and events.
I. Complete brief analyses after each event to be shared with the Event Assistant, the Student
Activities Board, and other entities as needed.
J. Communicate and manage itemized expenditures of the activities budget with the President.
K. Appropriately negotiate speaker and entertainment fees with agents.
L. Communicate with the appropriate university staff for event planning such as, but not limited
to:
a. Public Safety
b. Facilities Operations
c. University Scheduler
d. Vancouver Information Technology
M. Provide an oral and written report at each Senate meeting.
N. Attend all mandatory ASWSUV meetings including, but not limited to:
a. Retreats
b. Executive Staff meetings
c. All Student Government meetings
d. One-on-one meetings with the President
O. Perform any duties deemed necessary by the ASWSUV President.

Requirements: The Director of Activities must be members of ASWSUV and be enrolled in at


least six (6) credits per semester during the regular academic year. S/he must be
in good academic standing, maintaining no less than a 2.0 GPA.

Work Conditions: Frequent interruptions, noise, fast-paced, high workload

Term: The Director of Activities will hold office from commencement to


commencement, or until his/her duly elected successors take office.

Salary: In accordance with ASWSUV By-Law (330.02), the salary for the Director of
Activities will be fifty percent (50%) of the President’s salary, thus eight thousand
dollars ($8000) for the entire year.

Hours: The Director of Activities shall contribute at least fifteen (15) posted office hours
each week to his/her duties until commencement. Posted office hours must be
held between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Workloads may require
additional hours and individuals must be prepared to fulfill them.
