Our Mission
Woodbury Child Development Center is an educational
day care program. Our purpose is to provide a
developmentally appropriate learning experience for
children aged infant to 12 years. We foster and
encourage involvement with parents and the
community. We are committed to a program which
nurtures the child, socially, emotionally and intellectually.
This committment is an expression of the Center’s values
which are rooted in our history, define our present and
direct our future.

In 1996, the Woodbury Child
Development Center moved to its current
location on Carpenter Street. Prior to the
move, the WCDC was committed to
complete renovation of the old school
building. The building, which had been
the site for Woodbury's Carpenter Street
School until the 1960s, was in a drastic
state of disrepair. The Casino Reinvestment
Development Authority (CRDA), a
committee that awards grants for
nonprofit organizations with funding from
the casinos in Atlantic City, provided
assistance for the project and helped the
WCDC realize its dream of expansion and
restoration. Renovations included new
windows throughout the building, the
creation of a basement nursery, and lots
of cheerful paint. Local students painted
bright murals on the walls of fairy tale and
nursery rhyme characters.
The WCDC's newfound location is home
to a variety of projects and supports an
environment for children and adult
interaction. The "community center"
atmosphere invites and encourages
families to enjoy activities together while
meeting new friends.
Our Programs
As a provider of activities and programs for both
children and adults, the WCDC brings value and
education to the community.

Volunteers Needed
The WCDC is always looking for fresh faces
and talented individuals that are interested in
bringing their own experiences and desire to
make a difference to the classroom. Among
the types of volunteers needed are:
0 Individuals who can assist instructors
and teachers in the classroom. By
working with the children, individual
volunteers offer one-on-one attention
while providing the opportunity to
contribute to the community.
0 Organizations with members involved
in community service. Companies
and civic organizations with volunteer
groups find that their employees and
members build character and extend
their corporate and civic respect while
contributing their time.
0 Retired individuals with an interest in
becoming foster grandparents. Such
community members find the
relationships they make with the
children to be personally rewarding
and fulfilling.
