TO: Potential Candidates for South Western FBLA Executive Office

FROM: Mrs. Edel
DATE: April 4, 2011
SUBJECT: Campaign for Local Office

The election of officers is a serious matter, and qualifications will be the primary consideration.
Candidates who are willing to accept a leadership role and work hard preparing to perform their duties
will make the most effective leaders. Officers may pick-up officer application forms outside of room
209. All members interested in a position will need to complete the Officer Application Form and
return to Mrs. Edel in room 209 on or before Wednesday, April 13 at 3:30 p.m.

Nominees submitting application forms will need to keep in mind that the responses of your questions
may be posted to the voting area of the webpage or a document to help members gain more
information about your possible election for office. Election speeches should be no more than two
minutes in length. Speeches should encompass your personality. Speeches should be prepared in a
professional demeanor that represents why you are running for the office. You may also explain your
position, potential chapter goals, and the implementation of your plan of action. Use an elevator
speech approach.

Nominees will have until Wednesday, April 13, 2011 to complete any promotions. All promotions will
need to be approved by Mrs. Edel before displayed throughout the campus. These promotions will
need to be removed by 3:15 p.m. on Election Day, Thursday, April 14, 2011.

Members will vote for the 2011-2012 FBLA Executive Board on Thursday, April 14, 2011. Voting
will conclude after candidate speeches have been performed. At the conclusion of the day all
nominees will need to remove publicity items throughout campus. All members are required to be in
business attire for the formal chapter meeting. Voting will follow the speeches. Member votes will
include a written ballot vote in addition to an explanation for why the member has chosen the specific
candidate.

If you have any questions concerning the election, please see one of the advisers.
