CETAL

Composition
Drops 1 Suppository Suspension

Paracetamol
( micronised ) 500 mg 100 mg 120 mg 250 mg

Properties and Mode of Action

CETAL, paracetamol, is an analgesic and antipyretic with an efficacy equivalent to that of aspirin.
CETAL does not produce any gastric irritation, erosion or bleeding that may occur with salicylates, thus being its
substitute in cases of peptic ulcer, gastritis or hiatus hernia.
CETAL, has no effect on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems and causes no change in the acid base balance.
CETAL, has no effect on the bleeding time or the excretion of uric acid.
CETAL, being in the micronised form provides a bioavailability higher than other soluble forms promoting a rapid
absorption and efficient therapeutic effect.

Indications
As Analgesic - Antipyretic in painful and febrile conditions in adults and childern. As Analgesic - Antipyretic in the presence
of Aspirin allergy, hemostatic disturbances (including anticoagulant therapy), bleeding diathesis (e.g. hemophilia), upper
gastrointestinal diseases (e.g. ulcer, gastritis, hiatus hernia).

Dosage and Administration

Adults:
1 - 2 tablets every 4 - 6 hours (or as directed by the physician).
Children:
10 mg/kg every 4 - 6 hours.

Precautions
CETAL should be given with care to patients with impaired renal or hepatic function.
CETAL should not be administered for more than 10 days except upon the physician’ advice.

Drug Interactions
Caffeine enhances the analgesic effect of CETAL. Serum levels of chloramphenicol may become elevated during
concomitant administration of CETAL.

Side effects
In recommended therapeutic dosage CETAL is well-tolerated.
Skin rash and other allergic reactions may sometimes occur.

Presentation
CETAL Tablets : Box of 2 blisters of 10 tablets each.
CETAL Drops : Bottle of 15 ml.
CETAL Suppositories for Children : Box of 1 strip of 5 suppositories.
CETAL Suspension : Bottle of 60 ml.
