sharing information with the editorial director of the website; working with the graphic design team
on layouts; writing captions, table of contents material, and 1500 feature.
01/2011 - present Urban 515, Blogger
Help form and represent the company’s brand through blogs about local merchants; rewrite the
company’s website copy according to the new tone and brand formed. Urban 515 is a group of local
professionals who are passionate about seeing the local culture in our city continue to grow.
05/2010 - 08/2010 Scranton Gillette Communications, Editorial intern
Copy edited and wrote for several of the company’s 10+ trade publications. Tasks included editing
two weekly online newsletters, researching for and contributing to content in custom publications,
and writing a piece published in the September issue of Imaging Technology News.

Managed partnership with United Way of Central Iowa and coordinated all student and nonprofit
activities for organization. Participation in organization includes 200 nonprofit agencies and 750
Drake students.
2007 - 2008 Nonprofit Relations Director
Liaison with area nonprofits. Drafted mass, bimonthly emails and maintained individual e-mail and
telephone correspondence.
05/2008 - 08/2008 Kansas City Homes & Gardens magazine, Editorial intern
Copy edited, organized, researched and fact-checked features for publications and reported and
wrote two byline stories featured in the October 2008 issue.
 SERVICE
01/2011 - 03/2011 Twestival DSM, Planning committee
Served as the only student on the planning committee. This year, the event served a local charity
rather than an international organization as the previous two years had. Charged with booking the
bands for the event; engaged both the Drake University campus and my Twitter community of 800.
In total, Twestival DSM raised more than $1,100 for the Evelyn Davis Early Learning Academy (last
year, the event raised approx. $260).
06/2009 - 08/2009 Governor’s Cup
Sat on the committee while interning at the Governor’s office in the summer of 2009. Attended bi-
weekly meetings; coordinated in-kind donations from Des Moines-area businesses for the September
2009 race that benefited Iowa Homeless Youth Centers.

through Delta Gamma and its Golden Anchor program.
