My name is Vania Sekar Pradipthya Simatupang .

I was born in Bandung, on 4th June 1988 but i

already lived in Jakarta from my first age. My father is Bataknese and my Mother is Javanese.
Obviously, they have different cultures, but so far they can accommodate the different. Now, I live
separately from my parents, because i study outside Jakarta .But i’m still happy, because i’ve got many
new friends here and make me more independent. I study at Padjadjaran University Bandung and take
major of psychology. For my final project, I will take psychology of industry and organization for my
specification .

My hobbies are singing, playing some music instruments, and also photography.I usually sing at
the church as a member of vocal group or singing solo. I took singing course when I was senior high
school, guitar course ,and also violin course. I can play piano too but I learn played the piano by myself
not with formal course.I learned photography since early college, and after that I join some photography
workshops or photo hunting to improve my skill. So i can meet expert people who did photography and I
can learn much from them.

I was counted as an active student at my faculty. I have been participating in many extra campus
activities. In the year of 2008, I became a jazz festival event’s coordinator that held at Jatinangor where
my campus located. Jatinangor Jazz Festival was the first big jazz event that held in Jatinangor as various
popular artists from Bandung and Jakarta were participated. And then, the faculty’s student executive
committee has offered me a chance to be a head of coordinator for Study Visit to Psychology Faculty
from well-known Universities that located in Jakarta. In early 2009, I lead documentation division in
study visit to Psychology Faculties in Malaysia. In the visit beside exchanging ideas in the field of
psychology, we also conducted cultural event where me and my friends performed saman’s dance at
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. From this study visit event, i learn how to lead people and how to
interact with foreigners. However, I still have many events that i have joined before, but i think it will be
run out of paper if i mention one by one.

A part from my busy study in the University, I do have passion with a pets and animals. I have
been joining The Jakarta Animal Aid Network(JAAN) as a volunteer, a non-profit organization in Jakarta,
that aim at saving abandoned pets and wild animals. I have already joined in some their events such as
sterilization stray cats in Jakarta and work in a shelter. I really like to be a part of JAAN, beside i can
know more people from outside Indonesia, I can show my passion to animals that can’t speak and fight
for animal rights. I have my previous plan to become an animal-assisted therapist, that help people with
animals. But, in my thought, I prefer to work later in office first and then I will take some courses about
animal-assisted therapist, so in one side, I can be a working woman, and a helper to apply my basic study
at psychology and combine with my passion about animals.

Later, I plan to continue study in Australia for master degree. My master education will deal with
major in safety . In Indonesia only few of industries really care about safety because it costs much and
eventually reduces revenue. However, the experiences tell that this can cause work accidents grow up
faster. According to the facts, I have a spirit to push forward the safety become a priority in Indonesia’s
Industries. This one of the reasons why I apply to go to Korea as Korea is one of leading Industrial
countries and become a good model that i can share or apply in Indonesia. Beside that, i can get more
friends in Korea, I can practice to live alone in outside Indonesia and also can introduce Indonesia and
Padjadjaran University to Korea.
