TRAINING SESSION PLAN TEMPLATE INSTRUCTIONS

Who uses this template:


Users of this template include:
• Trainers
• Facilitators
• Teachers
• Instructors

Users may be working in:


• public education institution undertaking vocational training
• private organization training employees in specific skills
• consulting organization supplying training services to third parties

When to use this template:

• planning and preparing a training session for later delivery


• proposed training session is live or recorded for later playback
• proposed training is face to face (instructor led)

This template is designed specifically to:


• guide trainer through session structure and content
• assist in keeping training session to time
• ensure all necessary equipment is available on time and operational,
including computer hardware, software, projectors, models and so on
• ensure trainer and trainee materials are available on time and in sufficient
quantities, including facilitator guides, trainee workbooks, handouts, assessments,
markers, pens and so on

How to use this template:


1. Complete the course and session particulars at the top of the template
2. Add topic headings in the ITEM column (type over TOPIC 1, TOPIC 2 … TOPIC 5)
3. Add headings, subheadings, points and sub-points
4. Use bullet points only - this is not a session summary
5. To format the text, copy the style formats from the example text or choose the style from the
style box (styles are prefixed with BP; for example, BP Subheading)
6. Add expected start time for each topic and sub-topic in the TIME column
7. Add trainer/trainee aids where required in the AID column (use abbreviations: W/B for
whiteboard, OH 4 for overhead No. 4 and so on)
8. To add a new row, select Table | Insert | Row from main menu bar
