Till I finish the race- (then I can rest)

I will persevere, I will get up when i fall down, I will

see my Jesus face to face one day

The apostle Paul compared the christian walk to a

race he said ""I have fought the good fight, I
have finished the race, I have kept the faith" (2
Tim. 4:7). What exactly is the christian race
then? simply put it is living a good Godly life
until our death at which point we reach the
goal which is an eternity with Christ and win
our prize which is salvation in heaven. Paul
couldn't have made a better comparison -I
know I myself sometimes feel exactly that way
- like im running a race turbo speed towards
the goal which is my God but there's all these
obstacles that my earthly life throws in the
way that i've got to jump over -somedays i lose
focus and energy and i stumble, other days i
just flat fall and others well, i just don't feel
like running so i stop- then realize that im not
running this race alone, there are other people
behind me and around me that if i were to stop
dead in the middle i would cause them to crash
or to stumble and fall, or injury, to quit the
race even and I can't do that, I cant cause that.
The Lord says to me to love him above all else
and to love you as much as i love myself, and I
believe him when he says that . I also believe
that he made me with a great purpose in his
kingdom and that the work that i do, the
worship that i do, every moment i devote to
him is important. I AM IMPORTANT and so are
YOU. in this i find the motivation to keep on
racing to keep on going- no matter how hard
the race of life is- you have to find what your
motivation is and to define it, then focus on it
and don't let anything steer you from your
path, from staying on course.

there are 3 things we need to run successfully and

win the christian race-

WE MUST RUN WITH CONFIDENCE (SELF-WORTH).

1. We will never become a champion until we see

ourselves as a champion. As Christians, we are
champions and winners in the Lord. We are
WORTH a lot to God.

2. Listen…the Bible tells us how important we

are.

(1 John. 3:1) "How great is the love the Father has

lavished on us, that we should be called
children of God! And that is what we are!"

a. We are children of God.

(1) We are related to the creator of the World.

We belong to a royal family.

3. Unfortunately, some people walk around

looking and acting like failures. we live
defeated lives because we do not value
ourselves. you are only as valuable as you
believe you are- and therein lies one of
humankind's biggest issue - The Lord in his word
repeats over and over again how much he loved
us- he gave his only son to be broken for us, he
calls us HIS children and yet we do not believe
him which robs us of 2 things- his amazing love
and personal faith- you don't believe God loves you,
which means you have no faith, no belief in him and
because you have no faith you cant believe he loves
you- so you are loveless and faithless- and stuck in
this cycle. You have got to break with this and
choose to trust God, to believe he made us
amazing-

"You formed my inward parts (Psalm 139:13) and

"Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed
(vs. 14). Then he said, "I will praise You, for I am
fearfully and wonderfully made" (v. 14).

WE MUST RUN WITH THE RIGHT MOTIVATION.

We want to go to Heaven.
We want to avoid Hell.
The Christian life is the best life.
The apostle Paul was motivated to live his life for
God and work hard in serving Jesus Christ because
of the GRACE OF GOD. To Paul, the greatest thing
in all the world was the grace of God, the fact that
God loved him so much…that God forgave his
terrible sins…that God allowed him to follow and
serve His son…that God allowed him to proclaim
the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

what is the grace of God-

it is the undeserved favor of God. We all have this

underdeserved favor- none of us deserve this life-
none of us deserved Jesus dying on the cross for
us-

example-
On August 16, 1987, Northwest Airlines flight 225
crashed just after taking off from the Detroit
airport, killing 155 people.

One survived: a four-year-old from Tempe, Arizona,

named Cecelia.

News accounts say when rescuers found Cecelia

they did not believe she had been on the plane.
Investigators first assumed Cecelia had been a
passenger in one of the cars on the highway onto
which the airliner crashed. But when the passenger
register for the flight was checked, there was
Cecelia's name.

Cecelia survived because, even as the plane was

falling, Cecelia's mother, Paula Chican, unbuckled
her own seat belt, got down on her knees in front
of her daughter, wrapped her arms and body
around Cecelia, and then would not let her go.

Nothing could separate that child from her parent's

love—neither tragedy nor disaster, neither the fall
nor the flames that followed, neither height nor
depth, neither life nor death.

Such is the love of our Savior for us. He left

heaven, lowered himself to us, and covered us with
the sacrifice of His own body to save us.
WE MUST TURN SETBACKS INTO COMEBACKS.
how do we do that?
Pray and believe that God is with us.

In the words of the Apostle Paul in (Philippians 4:6-

7), we are to pray about all of our
circumstances, "Do not be anxious about
anything, but in everything, by prayer and
petition, with thanksgiving, present your
requests to God." We must give our problems
to God in prayer and trust that in His own time
and way, He will help us.

b. Choose to be joyful.

A joyful attitude is essential when rebounding from

setbacks. James says, "Consider it pure joy,
my brothers, whenever you face trials of many
kinds" (James 1:2).

When setbacks come, give thanks to the Lord and

adopt a joyful attitude.

c. Never give up.

No matter what happens, we must never give up

on our faith. Things will always get better.
