Is it possible to feed data from more than one organization to a PS Plan ?
For example if the demand is one organization (Sales Orders) and the supply come
s from another organization (eg.Discrete Job) is it possible to feed both these
sales orders and work orders into a single PS Plan
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EBS-PS does not see Purchase order as supply when referencing a ASCP PLAN.Why do
es this happen?
Lets say ASCP and PS both are run on Jan 1. Purchase lead time for item is 5 day
s.
PS will ONLY bring POs within lead time of the item i.e. 5 days from Jan 1 - Thi
s is considered as constrained supply. Anything beyond lead time is considered a
s unconstrained supply.
POs from ASCP were not brought into PS as they were outside lead time for that i
tem.

Q:Is PS integrated with MRP ?

No, PS is not really "integrated" with traditional MRP.

PS is not integrated with MRP. It can work against Oracle Manufacturing (Discret
e/Process) on actual orders/batches but will not see planned orders from MRP. Fo
r that you need ASCP. PS publishes information to EBS via the planning server.
You install Planning Server via Rapid Install and use it to run collections from
ERP to get the data that PS uses, define PS Plan Names and launch PS either in
interactive mode or as batch run. PS will auto-install in the background on the
desktop when first invoking the Production Scheduler Workbench (and also install
new versions when detected).
Yes, Planned Orders from traditional MPS must be released from MPS / MRP Workben
ch to create Work Orders (jobs). Those jobs may be further collected and schedu
led using PS for more detailed scheduling. MPS flow does not necessarily need to
be discontinued. MPS generates the Planned Orders and handles the longer term (
like months and years) scheduling/planning. PS is short / near term (like next 4
to 8 weeks) shop floor scheduling of those work orders.
I expect you'd want to run MDS > MPS > release planned orders to wip > Collect t
o MSC tables > PS > Publish scheduled work orders to wip > MRP to plan to requir
ements.
PS does not collect/schedule Planned Orders from MRP, but could when using ASCP
Plan.
PS will publish through planning server to WIP and uses Wip_Job_Schedule_Interfa
ce with Wip Mass Load, not sure if firmed or not direct from PS. Collections col
lects already created jobs in status Unreleased, Released, On hold, Complete.
PS is part of the APS product suite and is considered as part of the planning se
rver. If the ERP and Planning Server are centralized, then they (inv, bom, wip,po,
PS) are all on the same applications instance installation; and not a separate
server. APS products have the abillity to be on a separate apps instance install
ation; as decentralized - two apps instances one for EBS products and one for AP
S products. Because PS is part of APS products, it Collects the EBS data to the
MSC (ASCP) tables and results of the product must be published or released back
to the EBS applications. When PS Workbench is launched, it Snapshots the data fr
om the MSC tables to the client pc. So, for a centralized environment the "plann
ing server" is just the repository of MSC tables on the same EBS applications -
commonly called the ODS (operational data store) used by all the APS products.

How to get the Firm Planned orders from PS into ASCP without passing it directly
to ERP server? How
to stop them at PDS Level ?

This can be achieved as below...

1. Navigate to PS Workbench.
2. Solve the PS Plan
3. Approve the PS Plan.
4. Right Click on the PS Plan Name.
5. Select Edit Work Order Release.
6. Choose Profile : Release Schedule
7. By Default, all work orders and Planned Orders will be selected.
8. Uncheck the Planned orders which you do not want to directly release to Sourc
e instance.
9. You can do a Select all or Deselect All if you want to.
10. Publish the PS Plan.
11. This will only publish the firmed planned orders to PDS ASCP side.

To see these firmed planned orders, you will have to attach the PS Plan created
to the ASCP Plan
in the ASCP Plan options in the Org tab. The Horizon of 30 days same as PS plan
needs to be given.
Rerun of ASCP Plan is necessary to see these Firm Planned orders.
