View North
Between Berteau Avenue and Grace Street, Ravenswood Avenue is directly next to the railroad property line.
North of Irving Park Road the railroad embankment is supported by an older sectional concrete wall. From
Irving Park Road to Grace Street the embankment is supported by a variety of wall types in some areas, or by Retaining Wall
(on RR property line)
no walls at all. This area is also largely residential and in places some landscaping has been done by local efforts.
All existing walls and landscaping will be removed and the entire distance improved with a continuous new
retaining wall.
Ravenswood is one-way between Irving Park Road and Grace Street. Several feet of land will be freed up for
green space in front of the new wall. To mitigate for the loss of existing greenery a continuous trellis-like “green Landscape Edge
With Trellis, Vines and Ground-cover
wall” is proposed between Berteau and Grace. This will be covered in vines and additional plantings made in
the narrow parkway at the base of the wall.
