NOUN
Kata Benda

A noun is all part that denotes a person, animal, place, thing, or idea in the world (Kata benda
adalah segala bagian yang menunjukkan orang, hewan, tempat, benda, atau ide di dunia).

There are three parts of noun, namely:

I. Kinds of nouns (Jenis-jenis kata benda)
1. Abstract Nouns (kata benda yang tidak berwujud)
Examples : Friendship, happiness, sadness, kindness, etc.
2. Concrete Nouns (kata benda yang berwujud). There are four parts, namely:
a. Common Nouns (kata benda umum)
Examples : Girl, Boy, Town, River, Country, etc.
b. Proper Nouns (kata benda yang bernama)
Examples : Abella, James, Garut, Indonesia, etc.
c. Collective Noun (kata benda gabungan)
Examples : Group, Team, People, Crowded, etc.
d. Material Nouns (kata benda yang merupakan bahan dari benda lain)
Examples : Wood, Sugar, Salt, Gold, Silver, Water, Milk, etc.

II. Types of Nouns (Tipe-tipe kata benda)

Types of nouns are countable and uncountable noun. Countable noun digunakan untuk
sesuatu yang dapat kita hitung menggunakan angka. Uncountable noun digunakan untuk
sesuatu yang tidak bisa kita hitung menggunakan angka. Uncountable noun digunakan dengan
kata kerja tunggal. Kata benda ini biasanya tidak memiliki bentuk jamak. Kata-kata ini meliputi
nama-nama untuk ide atau sifat yang abstrak atau benda fisik yang terlalu kecil untuk dihitung
atau tidak berbentuk (cairan, bubuk, gas, dsb)

III. Number of Nouns

Kata benda jika dilihat dari jumlahnya, terbagi dua bentuk, yaitu singular dan plural.
