Aloe vera
Aloe vera is a herb with succulent leaves that are arranged in a rosette.
The leaves are grey to green and sometimes have white spots on their
surfaces. They have sharp, pinkish spines along their edges and are the
source of the colourless gel found in many commercial and medicinal
products. Aloe vera has yellow, tube-like flowers that cluster on a stem.
A. Beauty and cosmetics

The gel from the leaves of Aloe vera is a common ingredient in many
beauty products as it hydrates and soothes hair and skin.
B. Food and drink

The gel from the leaves of Aloe vera is consumed as a juice or tonic that
helps aid digestion.
C. Health
The Aloe vera gel has been used traditionally on the skin to treat psoriasis,
burns, and sores caused by the Herpes simplex virus.
Research has shown that when taken orally, aloe gel can regulate blood
glucose levels and cholesterol levels, but care should be taken when
taking Aloe products.
The green outer layer of Aloe vera leaves secrete a bitter, yellow fluid that
has traditionally been used as a laxative. However, research has shown
that this could interact negatively with other medicines and herbal
remedies, so should be taken with care and avoided by children and
pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Report Text
Report adalah sebuah teks yang menghadirkan informasi tentang suatu hal
secara apa adanya. Genre atau teks jenis ini memang ada kesamaan dengan
descriptive text yaitu, keduanya sama-sama memberikan gambaran secara
langsung tentang seseorang atau suatu benda. Perbedaannya adalah jika kita
berbicara tentang benda atau seseorang secara spesifik seperti warna, style,
nama, dan lain-lain, itu disebut Descriptive. Dan apabila kita berbicara tentang
benda atau seseorang secara umum yang meliputi bagian-bagiannya,
kekuatannya, fungsinya, atau sifat umum lain dari benda atau seseorang itu
disebut Report.
Definisi Teks Report
Report adalah sebuah teks yang menghadirkan informasi tentang suatu hal
secara apa adanya. Teks ini adalah sebagai hasil dari observasi dan analisa
secara sistematis.
Struktur Generik Teks Report
General Classification: Menyatakan klasifikasi aspek umum antara lain: hewan,

tempat umum, tanaman, dan lain lain yang akan dibahas secara umum.
Tujuan Teks Report
Teks ini bertujuan menyajikan informasi secara umum tentang sesuatu. Teks ini
menjelaskan keseluruhan benda, baik alami alami atau buatan, misalnya:
binatang, planet, batuan, tumbuhan, negara, budaya, alat transportasi, dan lain
lain. Informasi ini disajikan denga apa adanya secara ilmiah.
Report teks menjelaskan suatu benda (baik itu hidup atau mati) yang bersifat
umum. Coba bandingkan : Hunting dogs ˃˂My dog. Hunting dogs bersifat umum;
sedangkan my dog bersifat khusus.

Relating verbs, dalam grammar disebut juga dengan linking verbs. Seperti to be
(is, am, are: present), seem, look, taste dan lain sebagainya. – Timeless present
tense adalah salah satu penanda waktu dalam simple present seperti “often,
usually, always” dan lain-lain. – Technical terms, maksudnya adalah istilah-istilah
yang meliputi teks Report tersebut. Misalnya tentang “music” maka, istilah-istilah
musik harus ada.

Guava
Guava is a plant in the myrtle family (Myrtaceae) genus Psidium. It

is native to Mexico and Central America, Northern South America, parts of
the Caribbean and some parts of North Africa and also some parts of India.
The guava tree is not big. It is about 33 feet with spreading branches. The
bark is smooth with green or reddish-brown color. The plants branches are
close to the ground. Its young twigs are soft. It has hard dark elliptic leaves.
It is about 2-6 inches long and 1-2 inches wide. The flowers are white, with
five petals and numerous stamens.
Guava fruit, usually 2 to 4 inches long, is round or oval depending
on the species. Varying between species, the skin can be any thickness, it
is usually green when unripe, but become yellow or maroon when ripe. The
flesh of Guava fruit is sweet or sour. The color of the flesh may be white,
pink, yellow or red, with seed in the central park of the flesh. The seeds
are numerous but small. In some good varieties, they are edible. Actual
seed counts have ranged from 112 to 535. Guava fruit is rich with vitamins
A and C, omega-3 and omega -6, gutty acids and high levels of dietary
fiber.

Soursop
Soursop is the fruit of Annona muricata, a broadleaf,

flowering, evergreen tree native to Mexico, Cuba, Central America,
the Caribbean islands of Hispaniola and Puerto Rico, and northern South
America, primarily Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela. Soursop
is also produced in all tropical parts of Africa, especially in Eastern
Nigeria, The Plateau and The Democratic Republic of Congo, Southeast
Asia and the Pacific. It is in the same genus,Annona, as cherimoya and is
in the Annonaceae family.
The flavor has been described as a combination of strawberry and
pineapple, with sour citrus flavor notes contrasting with an underlying
creamy flavour reminiscent of coconut or banana.
Soursop is widely promoted (sometimes as "graviola") as
an alternative cancer treatment. There is, however, no medical
evidence that it is effective.
The plant is grown for its 20–30 cm (7.9–11.8 in) long, prickly,
green fruit, which can have a mass of up to 6.8 kg (15 lb), making it
probably the second biggest annona after the junglesop.
The flesh of the fruit consists of an edible, white pulp, some fiber,
and a core of indigestible, black seeds. The species is the only member of
its genus suitable for processing and preservation. The pulp is also used
to make fruit nectar, smoothies, fruit juice drinks, as well as
candies, sorbets, and ice cream flavorings.

FLOOD
A flood is one of natural disasters that caused by an overflow water that

submerges land which is usually dry. The European Union (EU) Floods
Directive defines a flood as a covering by water of land not normally covered
by water. Some floods can occur suddenly and quickly. Others take days or
more.
There are several types of flood. Periodic floods occur naturally on many rivers,
forming an area known as the flood plain. These river floods usually result from
heavy rain, sometimes combined with melting snow, which causes the rivers
to overflow their banks. A flood that rises and falls rapidly with little or no
advance warning is called a flash flood.
When floods happen, the water can carry along object. Flooding is very
dangerous for human being. It also has great erosive power and can be
extremely destructive.

RHINOCEROS
Rhinoceros is four-legged bulky herbivorous mammals with one or two horns

located right above its nose. We may know them by the short version of their
name “Rhino”. They are considered to be one of endangered animals by the
International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). In Indonesia, we can
find them in Sumatera and Java, especially in Ujung Kulon National Park.
Rhinoceros have a large and muscular body with four short legs. They have a

Koi fish is a species of carp fish with a unique color and pattern. They are
originated from Eastern Asia. The name “Koi” is a Japanese word which
means carp fish. Mostly, they are kept by humans in an outdoor ponds to
beautify the garden.
Their body formed a curve in the middle which make it looks chubby, and
it is similar to the other species of carp fish. They have three pairs of fin
located on the bottom of their body and a long fin on top of their body. Their
tail is flat and it is spread vertically. Their eyes are located on each side of
the head. Their mouth is wide with thick lips around it. They can form an
o-shape when they open their mouth.
Their skin are covered with large and colorful scales. Some of them have
more than two color on their body such as white scales with black and
orange spots or white scales with black and red spots. They can grow up
to the size of 80 cm with the maximum weight of 14 kg. It is recorded that
they can live up to 20 years.

E. Bahan Bacaan
A. Penggunaan ‘like’ dan ‘to be + like’
‘Like’ bisa kita artikan menyukai. ‘Like’ yang berarti menyukai merupakan
sebuah kata kerja (verb). Karena merupakan sebuah verb, maka kata ini bisa
berubah-ubah sesuai dengan tenses yang digunakan.
Berikut ini perubahannya :
Pada Simple Present Tense ( Kejadian Masa Kini )
a. Like jika mengikuti subjek I, You, We, They, atau Subjek Jamak lainnya
( misalnya students, people, friends).
Contoh :
• I like playing piano. ( Saya suka bermain piano )
• The students like the new uniform. ( Para siswa menyukai seragam
yang baru )
b. Menjadi Likes jika mengikuti Subjek He, She, It, atau Subjek Tunggal
lainnya ( misalnya, student, person, friend )
Contoh :
• She likes drawing. (Dia suka melukis)
• The student likes biology experiment. (Siswa-siswa itu suka
percobaan Biologi)
Pada Simple Past Tense ( Kejadian Masa Lampau)

Pada simple past tense, like yang berarti suka berubah menjadi liked
yang merupakan kata kerja kedua ( verb-2 ) dari like. Subjek di sini tidak
berpengaruh. Jadi, apapun subjeknya tetap menggunakan liked.
Contoh :
• I liked drinking coffee when I was young. (Saya suka minum kopi
ketika saya masih muda)
• My father liked hiking when he lived in Bandung. (Ayah saya suka
jalan jalan ke gunung ketika dia tinggal di Bandung)

2. Like Seperti atau Mirip
‘Like’ yang berarti seperti merupakan sebuah kata sifat (adjective). Dalam
tenses apapun, kata sifat tidak boleh berubah.Sehingga tetap ‘like’. Ketika
digunakan sebagai predikat, maka harus ada kata kata kerja bantu / to
be (is,am,are, was,were,be,been) di depannya. Biasanya digunakan tepat
setelah kata ‘look’.
Contoh :
1. My bag is like her bag.( Tas kepunyaanku mirip/seperti tas dia)
2. My brother is like my father. (Saudara lelakiku mirip ayahku)
