& Allergy Update for
Healthcare Providers
Yes, we’ve changed the name to more
accurately reflect the information we provide,
and the myriad of issues that surround asthma.
This year, Mary Washington Healthcare’s own
Natalie Root, MSN, BSN, RN, CEN, CPEN,
will be discussing what we’ve done in our
Emergency Department to improve those we
serve. Expect to learn how we score our asthma
patients, and what the value of that is.
Dr. Mozena will explain the complexity
of asthma – its variations and underlying
pathologies.  Expect to walk away with a greater
understanding of what asthma is.
Every year, we receive requests for more
information on food allergies. Dr. Wenger will
present the natural history of food allergies,
how to differentiate between food allergy, food
sensitization and food intolerance – and more!
Can you really cover food allergies without
discussing anaphylaxis? Learn about risk
factors, pathophysiology and auto injectors for
experience in using anaphylaxis and asthma
protocols.
Dr. Wilson will provide a graphic and compre-

Every year, we try to find topics that will interest
you the most and keep our presentations timely,
fresh and interesting. We are exceptionally
