hiT 7300 is a proven, flexible and cost-efficient 96-channel Optical Packet Transport
platform that is optimized for high-capacity transport in multi-haul networks. It is
designed and optimized for bit rates of from 2.5Gbit/s to 100Gbit/s per wavelength, ready
for 400Gbit/s in the future. hiT 7300 provides SDH/SONET, Ethernet and ODU services
and seamlessly integrates OTN switching functionality.

Comprehensive automation minimizes sys-
tem complexity, simplifies network opera-
tion, administration and maintenance and
eliminates procedural errors. All types of
TDM or packet based services are carried
by one multi-haul DWDM platform that can
easily and flexibly grow and adapt to your
customers’ demands.
hiT 7300’s key building blocks include termi-
nals, optical line amplifiers, OADMs, multi-
degree ROADMs and PXCs that allow for
tailored solutions for any kind of network
size and architecture. It offers a full range of
‘hot-pluggable ‘ transponders and mux-pon-
ders, with tunable SFPs, XFPs and CFPs
that enable easy configuration.
Smooth planning and operation is guaran-
teed by means of the easy-to-use TransNet
planning tool and integration into TNMS, No-
kia Siemens Networks’ best-in-class net-
work management system.

The extensive automation and customiza-
tion of network handling reduces training

One common platform and network man-
agement
hiT 7300 supports all types of network archi-
tectures (e.g. point-to-point, ring, mesh) and
reaches (e.g. metro core, regional, national
and international). Due to its high system
flexibility, the hiT 7300 platform is cost opti-
mized for short links (100km to 600km),
long-haul/ultra long-haul links (up to
2,500km and beyond). It is thus well suited
to the needs of carriers running networks
with a wide variety of link lengths or fiber
types. hiT 7300 is fully integrated into TNMS
and NetAct Transport.

The best-in-class cost position is achieved
without compromising the well-known Nokia
Siemens Networks quality. The modular de-
sign of the hiT 7300, with only two shelf
types, minimizes footprint, simplifies the car-
rier’s network, and reduces the range of
spare parts that need to be stocked. Further-
more, cost optimization is realized for a wide
range of network scenarios by tailoring the
network elements to the required EOL chan-
nel counts. Transparent optical networking,
including remote configuration in multi-de-
gree ROADMs and PXCs, lowers the cost
of electrical regeneration within the network.
Automation and customization is realized by
intelligent and future-proof software archi-
tecture.
The hiT 7300 constitutes a leading and fu-
ture-proof DWDM platform, with cost-opti-
mized solutions ranging from point-to-point
links based on fixed filter design, CWDM/
DWDM metro access rings to fully meshed
national photonic networks that address
small, medium and large carriers.
Leading the path to cost efficient high capac-
ity networks
A future-proof hardware design supports up
to 400Gbit/s (FlexiGrid technology), with
GMPLS control plane architecture either on
the optical layer, or in combination with OTN
switching Hardware, on the ODU layer. The
OTN switch complements the hiT 7300, with
sub-lambda grooming and router offload ca-
pabilities (MPLS-TP).
Remote in-service upgrades protect your in-
vestment, permit flexible growth and partici-
pation in the newest technologies and guar-
antee your return on assets. The CP-QPSK
based transponders result in high Chromat-
ic Dispersion (CD) and Polarization Mode
Dispersion (PMD) tolerance. Effectively this
allows deployment of 40Gbit/s or 100Gbit/s
per channel on an older fiber plant, preserv-
ing the most valuable asset for a carrier. The
hiT 7300’s DCM free design (dispersion
compensation module) is the basis for low
latency networking, a must-have in today’s
environment, where a millisecond makes a
million’s difference in the financial markets.
