Traces of Grace
Dear Fellow Parishioners;
After the long march through Lent to Easter, the Catholic community continues to live out the graces of
Easter culminating with the Feast of Pentecost. Lots of sacramental moments to be experienced! Over
30 persons entered the church through Baptism or a Profession of Faith at our Easter Vigils on Holy
Saturday night. In a few weeks we will be celebrating First Communions as well as Confirmation with
our young people.
In case you were only able to be with us on Easter Sunday, you may have missed the following:
One of the most prayerful Triduum”s ever.
Our first bilingual Holy Thursday liturgy. Thanks to the San Felipe community who turned out in
large numbers to commemorate the First Eucharist and the great Mandatum call to service of others.
A new driftwood cross created by nature and Greg and Mary Kay Wise for Good Friday’s ven-
eration of the cross. (I must admit that it was a bit heavier than our Ganahal lumber cross we have used
in the past!)
A very moving Lamentations Friday night service that allowed persons of faith to bring their sor-
rows to the cross of Christ
Late night crews of altar elves who worked late in the night to prepare our church and sanctuary
for Easter both at San Felipe and St. Edward’s
Our maintenance and pastoral staffs who worked long hours in preparation for Holy Week.
Our new projection system which assists our liturgies with sacred images as well as lyrics for our
liturgical music. (If the Vatican can utilize this technology at St. Peter’s then I guess we can too!)
Many thanks to all those who participated in our sacred liturgies, musicians, cantors and choirs, acolytes,
lectors and ushers, clergy, sacristans, altar guild, environment crews, parking attendants and everyone
else I forgot to mention. And, of course, all of you who manifest the Spirit in so many ways!
Together in Christ;
