ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
Ideally located on the 'tapobhoomi' of Maharishi latest facilities of CT-SCAN, MRI, Ultra modern OTs,
Markandeshwar in the river bed of the sacred Markanda,
with exotic lush green rural surroundings, the Maharishi
Markandeshwar University, Mullana-Ambala was
established under the aegis of the reputed Maharishi
Markandeshwar Education Trust, which was founded by a
great visionary and renowned promoter of education, Shri
Tarsem Garg, in November 1993. Named after Maharishi
Markandya (the great-grandson of Bhrigu Rishi and the son
of Rishi Markandu, the eternal torchbearer of communal
harmony and religious tolerance, who by his power of pious
devotion and deep faith in Lord Shiva, acquired the boon of
eternal life by defeating the invincible Yamraja), MM
University began with the establishment of MM
Engineering College at Mullana in 1995. Making rapid
progress in a short span of 16 years, it developed into a vast
campus comprising the institutions of high-profile
professional courses in the areas of Medical Sciences,
Dental Sciences, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Nursing,
Engineering & Technology, Business Management,
Computer Science, Hotel Management & Catering
Technology, Teachers Education, Law, International
School, latest being the MM Institute of Distance
Education, surpassing in size and standards most
conventional Universities in the region. Exchange of
Students/Faculty collaborations with the foreign
Universities and institutions of repute are likely to be of

The MM Education Trust has the pride of

Engineering College, first self-financing Medical

libraries. E-Resources include LWW Cluster e-collection
for Medical, Nursing and Pharmacy stream; INDEST-
AICTE Consortium for Engineering courses; and EBSCO
Information Services for Management stream.

 Application Documentation
1. Eligibility Documents – Attested photocopies of
all certificates determining eligibility are to be
attached with admission form for admission to any
course as per eligibility requirements.
2. Note: - In case of submission of forged/bogus
documents by the candidates, the matter may be
referred to the Police for further action and to file a
FIR in the case. Besides cancellation of his/her
admission, he/she will also be disqualified from
the University for the Admission to any of its
courses. The course fee will not be refunded in this
case.

affiliated with any recognized University/ Board.
c) Head of the University Teaching Department or
AR/DR/Officer of any recognized University.
d) Notarized from a Public Notary.
4. Unless otherwise decided by the University to
exclude any specific course, the examinations
conducted by all the recognized Indian
Universities/Deemed Universities/State
Education Boards/Technical Education Boards
are recognized (with the stipulation of No. of

subject(s).
Only those who have been declared as 'Passed' in
the qualifying examinations from the recognized
Board/University shall be considered for
admission. The Eligibility for admission is given
along with the respective course details.
5. The Certificates issued by the fake Universities as
declared by the UGC at its website are not
acceptable for admission to any of the courses of
this University.
6. The candidates having BA–One Sitting Degree
from any of the following Universities are not
eligible for admission to any higher courses of this
University :
l Bihar University , Muzzafarpur.
l Ranchi University, Ranchi.
l L N Mithila University, Darbhanga.
l Bhagalpur University , Bhagalpur
l Magadh University, Bodhgaya.
7. The candidates from Foreign Boards/ Universities
who wish to take admission to any of the courses
of this University shall submit a letter of
recognition from the Association of Indian
Universities (AIU), Delhi to become eligible for
admission to relevant course of this University.
8. All admissions shall be provisional subject to
confirmation of admission by the University.
9. In case of options/electives offered in any subject,
the candidates are required to fill in only those
options which are mentioned in the Prospectus.
The candidate's application is liable to be rejected
if he/she fills the option/elective other than those
mentioned in the Prospectus.
10. Change of Course – The candidate may be
allowed to change the Course/Subjects/ Optional
papers subject to matching the eligibility
condition and with a additional fee of Rs. 500/-
but not later than the last date of submission of
application form with late fee.
In addition to the above, other requirements to be
fulfilled to allow the change to be effective are:
a) The student must return course materials/books
issued ;
b) The student must pay the difference in fee if
applicable. Refund of higher fees, already paid by
the candidate, will not be allowed in this case.
11. The application should be complete in all respects
and all the columns in the application form must
be filled correctly with clarity. The application is
liable to be rejected for any shortcoming in the
submitted application form.
12. The candidate should submit the original
documents as and when demanded by the
University for verification of eligibility. Non-
submission of the same would automatically lead
to cancellation of admission.
13. The Fees & Mode of payment: The candidate
should pay the required fees as specified by the
University in the form of Demand Draft drawn in
favour of 'The Registrar, MM University, Mullana
payable at Ambala'. And it should be submitted
along with Admission/Re-registration/
Examination forms as applicable. No fee shall be
accepted in the form of money order/cash/
cheques.
Note :-
i) The candidate should write his/her Name, Father's
name, Course applied for, Semester/Year, at the
back of the demand draft.
ii) The candidates are advised not to make the
payment to any other person or agency.
Admission to Higher Semesters
Admission to higher semester: - The MMIDE has
following two schemes for the possible admission to the
higher semesters :
1. Later Entry Scheme: - This scheme is applicable only
in those courses where it is specifically mentioned.
2. The Course Transfer :- The candidates pursuing
courses from other Universities can complete their
remaining part of the course from MMIDE subject to
the following conditions :

14. A candidate cannot enroll for two or more courses
of MMIDE simultaneously. In such a case, the
candidate will be asked to give his/her priority and
the admission will be decided based on the priority
given by the candidate. However, the fee paid for
the other course/s will be refunded after deducting
25% of the total fee. If a candidate fails to give
his/her priority within the date set by the
University, the admission shall be cancelled
without any refund of fee.
15. If the University decides to discontinue any course
due to any reason, the candidate admitted to such a
course will have the option to change to another
course offered by the Institute provided the
eligibility conditions for the admission to the said
course are fulfilled with adjustment/payment of
difference of fee whichever is applicable or the
University will refund the full fee paid by the
candidate. However, under this circumstance
the course change fee is not applicable.
16. Change of Address :- If applicable, the candidate
should immediately inform his/her new contact
details/address to the University in writing.
He/she should also mention the course in which
he/she is currently studying/semester, Reference
Number, etc along with his/her new address.
a) The previous University/Board is recognized.
b) The candidate will have to appear for deficient papers
as decided by this University along with other papers
as per University Norms.
 MMIDE Examinations

1. The examination fee is to be paid along with the
Admission/Examination application form. The regular
students do not have to fill the separate examination
forms. However, re-appearing students have to fill a
separate “Re-appear examination form” along with the
examination fee of Rs 1000/- per Semester before the
last date announced by the University.
2. MMIDE Examinations will be conducted twice in a
year. Either all the odd semesters examinations are
conducted first followed by all the even semesters
examinations or vice-versa. The students having back
paper(s) in the immediate previous semester can
comfortably appear for his/her back paper(s).
However, when a student is in higher even or odd
semester may not be able to appear for the lower
even/odd semester re-appearing paper(s) examinations
respectively.
3. Evaluation: - Each candidate shall be examined and
evaluated appropriately by the University. The
University will conduct term end semester
examinations with 80% weightage and remaining 20%
is for internal evaluation. Internal Evaluation shall be
taken care as per University Norms.
4. Examination schedule will be notified by the
University at least 10-15 days prior to the
examinations.
5. MMIDE Examinations will be held in the month of
Dec./June. However, for the current batch (July 2010
Session) examinations will be conducted in the month
of Feb. 2011.
6. Admit Cards will be issued to the candidates who fulfil
the eligibility requirements well before the
examination. Entry to examination centre shall not be
allowed without the Admit card.
7. Candidates who have been issued admit cards
provisionally shall remain provisional until and unless
the condition for being provisional is complied with by
the candidates within the stipulated period of time.
8. The candidates shall have to pass all the
subjects/papers of the course within the specified
period from the date of admission failing which the
candidates will have to repeat the course. However, for
each paper a maximum of two chances shall be given
to reappear and clear the paper.

The letter grading system is adopted which depends on
the respective course norms.
9. Promotion to Higher Semesters :- Carry-on system
is followed, no bar of passing any paper in the lower
semester for promotion to higher semester. However,
they need to complete the course within the maximum
permissible time period.

Declaration of Results & issue of Marks Card/Degree Certificate

1. The Examination results will be declared on the
website of the University, followed by issue of the
DMC.
2. The University reserves the right to withhold the result
of any candidate(s) in case of any enquiry, pending
verification or submission, wrong information or any
other reason.
3. Correction in DMC should be brought to the notice of
the University within 30 days of the issue of the DMC.

 Important Instructions
1) The candidates are advised to go through the
prospectus before filling up the admission/
examination form and follow the instructions
issued by the University carefully.
2) The candidate shall remain in touch with the
University for receipt of fee, study material,
theory and practical classes, examination
information, admit card, results, DMC, etc and
keep him/herself informed about the various
requirements regularly.
3) The date of receipt or any other document will be
the date on which the same is actually received in
the MMIDE Institute. The University shall in no
way be responsible for failure on the part of the
postal/courier services for non-receipt or late
receipt of any document including payment of
dues/fees to be made by a student.
4) All candidates will be admitted provisionally
subject to the checking of eligibility, verification
or other admission formalities. Eligible candidates
would be issued an enrollment number which
would be declared on the website of the
University. Each candidate will also be issued a
provisional Reference No. on receipt of the
admission form from the candidate. The
provisional Reference No,/issue of study
material/appearing in the examination/
declaration of results does not regularize the
provisional admission unless the Registration card
is issued to the candidate.
5) The final enrolment is subject to verification of
eligibility conditions as detailed in the application
documentation section.
6) The enrolled students have to fill up and submit
the re-registration form along with the requisite
fees for entry in to the next semester of the course.
7) The students must complete their re-registration to
the higher semesters during the period notified by
the University.
8) All legal disputes are subject to Ambala Courts
or Courts having jurisdiction in Ambala.
9) Rejection of Admission form: Admission form
may be rejected on following grounds :
a) Qualifying examination is not recognized by this
University.
b) Eligibility documents as mentioned in
Admission documentations are not attached.
c) Eligibility documents are not attested or not
attested as per the attestation guidelines given in
this prospectus.
d) Form is incomplete.
e) Photographs are not affixed or attested.
f) DD for required fee is not attached.

10) Refund of Fee :
(i) Refund of Fees will be admissible if and only if
the candidate has submitted all the required
certificates and documents as specified but is
declared ineligible for not fulfilling the eligibility
conditions. The fees paid by such a candidate will
be refunded after deducting 25% of the total
amount paid by the candidate provided the
application for refund has been received by the
MMIDE within six months from the date of issue
of the letter by the MMIDE declaring the
candidate ineligible.
(ii) Amount deposited in excess of the prescribed
fees, if any, will also be refunded after deducting
25% of the excess amount on a request received
from the students within six months from the date
of deposit.
11. The Fees remitted by the candidate shall not be
refunded for any of the following reasons :
(i) In case the admission of the candidate is not
finalized due to non-payment of fee/dues and
other charges or a part thereof by the prescribed
date;
(ii) In case the candidate has not submitted the
required Certificates/DMC/Degree for
verification/ Migration Certificate in original (or
the required Affidavit in lieu thereof) etc.
submitted by him/her are found bogus or forged;
(iii) After being admitted, if the candidate does not
want to continue his/her studies on account of
his/her personal reasons;
(iv) If the candidature of a student is cancelled as fee
defaulter or for non-submission of documents,
etc. or a student does not appear in the
examination after the issue of Roll No., the fee
paid by him/her shall neither be refunded nor
adjusted in any case against the fee of next session
even, if he/she seeks readmission/re-registration
to a course; and
(v) In case a candidate submits two admission forms
along with fee for admission to two different
courses and his/her candidature for one of the
courses is cancelled, the fee paid by him/her for
that course will not be refunded.
12. All the students must attend the personal contact
programmes (PCP) conducted by the University.
The date and venue of the PCP will be announced
on the University website.
13. E- services – Students will have access to the
information from the University by availability of
information related to their admission
confirmation, enrollment number, release of study
material, hall ticket, examination centre by
visiting University website regularly.
14. In an event of any clarification / misinterpretation,
the decision of the Vice Chancellor shall be final
and binding.

3. Information regarding result will be sent to the candidate concerned and also be made available on
University Website by the MM Institute of Distance Education. If any candidate does find his/her
Admit card on web or does not receive Admit card by post within specified period, he/she should
immediately write to the Director, MM Institute of Distance Education, Maharishi
Markandeshwar University, Mullana – Ambala, 133207 or contact personally.
4. The Admit Card sent to the candidate will be provisional subject to final checking of eligibility, etc.
5. The candidate must appear for the examination at the examination centre allotted to him/her unless
otherwise specially directed by the Controller of Examinations, MMU. For change of examination
centre, the candidate must apply at least one month before the examination duly supported by the
documentary proof of the ground due to which change is requested.
6. In case of any wrong statement in the Admission/Examination From or suppressing of the facts,
the candidate will be responsible for consequences which might lead to cancellation of candidature
and other disciplinary action under the Rules and Regulations of the University in force, as the case
may be.
