Studies on the castings of metal matrix composites (A356 + SiC) using lost foam casting
Software used: Lab VIEW 8.2.

• To make intricate castings of particulate aluminium MMC (A356+SiC), an attempt

has been made using lost foam casting process.
• The solidification behavior of MMC and mould filling time are measured using Virtual
Instrumentation.
• Tensile test and microstructure studies are carried out from the samples of castings
and compared with A356 Castings.
• The tensile strength of the MMC is more than the A356 castings.
• From the microstructure that the sic particles are uniformly distributed in the
aluminium metal matrix.

Hydraulic Bike stand
• To stand and release the vehicle with less manual effort.
• Two buttons are used for stand and release the vehicle.
• Battery operated gear pump and piston is used to stand and release the vehicle.
• Hydraulic fluid is act as a medium to transfer power from master cylinder to gear
pump and gear pump to piston.
• It requires only an oil sump, gear pump and piston cylinder arrangement.

Modern thermo cool cutter
• To cut intricate shapes in polystyrene material with reduced time, increase in
accuracy and reduce material wastage.
• 6V DC supply is used to heat and cut the thermo cool material.
• Nicrom thin wire is used to cut the thermo cool material and it is arranged linear and
centre of the table.
• Required profile can be cut easily and quickly.
