Summary
Introduction
This is a one-time inspection report issued by the International Bureau of Aviation (IBA Group) for a
Boeing 737-500 aircraft, registration FAP-356 and serial number 27426, registered to the Peruvian Air
Force, and delivered new from Boeing.
The purpose of this report is to provide a pre-purchase report, covering the physical condition of the
Boeing 737-500 and an overview of the condition and compliance of the aircraft records to enable IBA
Group to provide an accurate Valuation.
The report is made up of three sections, Section 1, the Physical Inspection Report, Section 2, the
Aircraft Records Inspection and Section 3, an Avionics Status Report.
History General
The aircraft was purchased new from Boeing by the Peruvian Government to be used solely as the
Presidential transport. It was dispatched upon delivery to Associated Air Centre at Love Field Texas
for the interior modifications. The aircraft was registered with the Peruvian Air Force as Registration
No. FAP-356.
Airframe and engine routine maintenance is carried out by the Air Force using its maintenance facility
at Lima; heavy maintenance has been carried out by SEMAN and VARIG, which have been approved
by the DGAC and FAA to carry out maintenance on the 737-500 aircraft.
Records and documents relating to msn 27426 were made available to IBA at the Group 8 Air Force
Base technical offices in Lima Peru.
Technical Status
From the information gained during our inspection of this aircraft and its record on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th
of July 2007, we have been able to make an assessment of the current maintenance status of msn
27426. At of the 03rd July 2007, the aircraft had completed 3,884.7 flight hours and 2,938 flight cycles
since new.
Recommendations
We have recommended that ProInversion apply to the DGAC to have the aircraft placed on the civil
register and obtain a Certificate of Airworthiness (C of A), in order that an appropriate Export C of A
may be issued to a prospective purchaser.
Section 1:
The aircraft was inspected in the SEMAN hangar at the Group 8 Air force base in Lima. The hangar
was clean and well lit.
Not Fitted
1.2.2 Fuselage
The aircraft livery consists of a grey belly and lower surfaces (Air Force standard), white upper
fuselage with blue stripes at the window line and two vertical red stripes on the rudder.
The paint condition over all was very good. No repairs or dent damage were noted on the fuselage.
There were some very minor paint chips at the forward service door cutout. In general the fuselage
and paint condition was very good.
1.2.3 Empennage
Access was limited to the view from the ground but the skin appeared to be repair and damage free
and the paint appeared to be in good condition. No leaks from the area were apparent.
1.2.5 Structure
All areas of structure on view, including keel beam section in the wheel well and areas visible in the
E&E bay were all clean and corrosion free.
1.2.7 Engines
Number 2 engine Lip Cowl had a small dent at the 7 o’clock position looking aft. There was also
evidence of light surface corrosion on the skin due to moisture being trapped between the inlet covers
and the skin, a result of the time the aircraft spends parked (see photos). All cowlings were in very
good condition apart from some minor incidents of dull paint finish. Both Acoustic Panels and
Abradable Linings were in good condition with no evidence of repairs or damage. Both exhaust areas
were in very good condition as were both Pylons. No leaks were evident. Engine runs at Idle and High
Idle were carried out for demonstration purposes.
The cockpit was clean and tidy with no evidence of damage to trim fittings. All seat covers were in
good condition. Windows appeared to be in good order with no signs of crazing or delaminating noted.
All instrumentation and radio equipment were in serviceable condition. IRS alignment checks, TCAS
and EGPWS tests were conducted under observation as were function tests of Air Conditioning
Packs.
The passenger compartment is divided into three areas. The forward section comprises of the forward
Galleys, forward Lavatory, and the State Room Suite, the second (mid) area is the Business Class
seating area and the aft area provides Economy (Coach) Class seating.
The cabin attendants’ seats (1 pair forward and 1 pair aft) were in good order as were all harnesses
but temporary seat covers had been fitted, which raise questions of Burn Certification, we have
recommended their removal, as the originals are still apparently fitted underneath.
The State Room Suite has four (4) burgundy leather Pullman seats on swivel mounts surrounding the
collapsible table, with two (2) pairs of foldable jump seats on the left wall and a three-seat Divan at the
compartments rear bulkhead. It also has a dedicated toilet suite complete with wardrobe, and an
independent IFE system. The State Room is finished in a dark wood veneer with cream pile carpet
and cream suede effect ceiling covering with down-lighters. The wall panels are trimmed with
burgundy and navy fabric. All were in good condition.
The business class section of the cabin contains six (6) pairs of Business Class seats finished in blue
leather and all in good condition. The carpet is cream and in good condition. Ceiling mounted monitors
provide IFE.
The aft cabin section provides forty-two (42) Economy (Coach) Class seats covered in Burgundy
fabric. All cabin sidewall floor covering and ceiling panels and window scratch panels were in good
condition.

1.3 Conclusion
The cabin layout with forward and aft galleys and forward and aft lavatories lends itself to easy
conversion back to a full passenger configuration. It should also be noted that the original all
passenger configuration ceiling and sidewall panels were retained and are included in the spare parts
package available with the aircraft.
This aircraft is in an exceptional condition and has had extremely low usage.
The aft Aux Tank (Aft Cargo bay) is temporarily deactivated awaiting Boeing feedback on a related
Service Bulletin.
