The Missionary Family

As always we can say that God has
been good to us, and that we are all

Elishua and Shemaiah started their
school year in March. They will get out
in November sometime. It is exciting
watching them grow and learn. Elishua
seems to dislike writing, and since he
wants to be an astronaut he asks, “Do

Ministry: Church ministry & the villages
We did a lot of different meetings
with the Bible Believing Church. The
Bible Believing Church has its
headquarters in Shillong, and then
there are many satellite churches in
the Khasi villages. We travelled to
different villages, teaching the
Word of God and preaching the
gospel of the kingdom. We did a
church building dedication service
for the village of Mawrah. The
church was blessed as the land was
donated by the village leaders. The
building was constructed, and the
believers have an excellent place
to gather. We also travelled to the
West Khasi Hills where we held the
West Circle meetings in New
Mawlieh. Then we also ministered
for the Bible Believing Church for
the East Circle meetings in
Phlangwanbroi. The circle meetings
are meant to be a time when the
different satellite churches can
come together and experience life-
changing teachings and
impartations from the ministry of the
Word.
While in the US, we had the
opportunity to minister for Blood
Bought Church and Three Rivers
Assembly of God during our short 3
week stay. We appreciate both of
these churches and also their
faithfulness to support us while we
are on the mission field. We are
blessed to have the opportunity to
be their feet and hands in India.
More and more I am realizing the
importance of experience. I believe
that is why my training at Rhema
was so beneficial. The experience
of our teachers really made lasting
impressions for the essence of
ministry. Experience in ministry is
something that I have come to
value. By this I mean much more
than pulpit ministry, but rather
people skills, attitudes, and learning
how to speak from the heart even
when what you have to say is not
easy.

A Teaching From God’s Word

Your
Your Redemption Draws Nigh
With all that is going on in the world today,
there is one thing of which we can get really
excited, that our redemption is drawing near. Of
course, Jesus is our redemption, but we are
approaching the time when we will experience
the fullness of that redemption, and that means
the redemption of our bodies. The day is
approaching when this mortal will put on
immortality, and this corruptible body will become
incorruptible. Therefore we look with great
excitement and anticipation the appearing of our
Lord Jesus Christ.
The events that are taking place
throughout the world indicate that the time is
drawing near when Jesus will come to take His
own to be with Him where He is. Earthquakes are
becoming commonplace, and the trouble in the
Middle East is preparing the way for the anti-christ.
Let us be vigilant and sober and watch unto
prayer as Bible prophecies unfold in our midst.
Recently, I had been studying the Olivet Discourse.
This is quite an interesting passage of scripture,
especially since it is recorded differently by the
three writers. The one thing that I have kept in
mind as I have been reading it is that Matthew Ministering during a church building dedication service at Mawrah for

who knew the law. Therefore Matthew will be
instructing people that have knowledge about the
Old Testament. We can even take the position that
Matthew is addressing the Jews. I come to that
conclusion based on this scripture.
But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter,
neither on the sabbath day: (Matt. 24:20)
Matthew is the only writer that mentions the
Sabbath day. Only the Jews would have a
problem with fleeing on the Sabbath day.
Interestingly enough Matthew seems to focus
around the event called the abomination of
desolation, which is first described in the book of
Daniel. This event begins the great tribulation.
Before we go too far I believe that it is necessary to
clear up some confusion. What is the end of the
world? When does the world end? Of course the
end of the world will mean different things to
believers and unbelievers. For unbelievers they may
be thinking of the total annihilation of the earth. For
believers they are more consistently referring to the
end of this age which will usher in the return of our
Lord Jesus and his millennial reign. It is not the total
destruction of the earth, because Jesus will return to
the earth and will rule and reign from His throne in
Jerusalem for 1000 years. Therefore it will usher in a
new age when Jesus will begin His millennial reign
from Jerusalem. This will be a great time on the
earth because Satan will be bound for a thousand
years and will not be able to deceive the nations
during this time. Righteousness will reign in the earth
and the peace that is the corresponding result of
righteousness. Then at the end of those 1000 years
the devil will be loosed from the bottomless pit, and
will go forth and deceive the nations again. He will
cause people again to rebel against the Lord Jesus,
but they will all be defeated and cast into the lake
of fire with the devil and his fallen angels and all the
people who have denied the Lordship of Jesus, and
have rejected the light of the gospel. It is my
understanding that at this time Jesus will do away
with the current heavens and earth and create a
new heaven and a new earth wherein dwells
righteousness. This would be the time that we could
say is the end of the world. For the sake of study
and to be consistent with terms, let us use the return
of Christ to be the end of the world which is more
specifically termed “the end of the age.” That is it
ushers in a new age, and the age of the church or
the age of grace is completed and the age of
Christ’s reign on the earth begins. Now when we
consider the Olivet discourse, we must include the
idea presented by Jesus as the “end of the world.”
This was one of the questions that the disciples
asked, but is only recorded in Matthew’s rendition
of the discourse. Again this can easily be translated
the “end of the age.” Of course Matthew and

Mark seem to be fairly consistent in thought,
content and order, with Matthew being a lot more
detailed and adding more into his account than
Mark. Now Luke on the other hand seems to have
a completely different emphasis and projection to
his account of this revelation. Luke primarily
addresses the time leading up to the destruction of
Jerusalem around 70 AD. There is no mention of the
abomination of desolation. It seems that Luke is
addressing the believers and particularly those that
would see the destruction of Jerusalem. The
primary difference becomes the point of reference.
If we study Luke, he mentions earthquakes and
famines and pestilences, as does Matthew and
Mark. These are referred to as the beginning of
sorrows. Now Luke says before these things, and
then mentions the persecutions of believers and the
destruction of Jerusalem.
But before all these, they shall lay their hands
on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to
the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought
before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
(Luke 21:12)
So Luke is speaking to the people that will
experience these events which will take place in
that generation. But Matthew and Mark are not
following the same mold. Matthew and Mark are
mentioning the beginning of sorrows, and then
speaking of persecution and then going to the
abomination of desolation. The abomination of
desolation ushers in great tribulation.
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was
not since the beginning of the world to this
time, no, nor ever shall be. (Matt. 24:21)
So Luke speaks of the persecution of believers in
that generation, whereas Matthew speaks of the
persecution toward the end of the age. Matthew
and Mark do not mention “our redemption drawing
near.” I offer this for a consideration, that Luke is
addressing those who will be raptured out before
they experience the great tribulation, not that they
will not experience persecutions and afflictions, but
they will be with the Lord during the great
tribulation. The rapture is the blessed hope of the
church which can be defined as the appearing of
our Lord Jesus. He comes for the believers and they
are caught up to meet Him in the air and to forever
be with Him.
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye
may be accounted worthy to escape all these
things that shall come to pass, and to stand
before the Son of man. (Luke 21:36)
Luke ends with this exhortation. Matthew and Mark
conclude with similar exhortations, to watch and be
ready. We know that the time is drawing near as
prophesy unfolds before our eyes. Let us be sober
and vigilant in these days to be in step with His plan.

 Extended Family
Things have been straightened out with our extended family.
All of our nephews were able to return home and stay with
their mom. It was a very challenging time for all of us, but
God is faithful to provide us with the grace and strength to
handle each circumstance as it presents itself. We appreciate
your prayers for our nephews and their mom so that they will
be able to experience God’s great salvation and walk out the
plan of God for their lives. We had some opportunities to
share the love of God in deed, and also to speak the word of
truth in love and sincerity.
