You are required to identify a firm in Ghana and write an evidence-based report on
how it is being transformed by information systems in terms of the following
criteria:
 Flattening
 Decentralization
 Flexibility
 Location independence
 Low transaction and coordination costs
 Empowerment
 Collaboration and teamwork

You should analyse your selected organization according to how technology, people
and processes are shaping these criteria.

These should be in a detailed report that should not exceed 5,000 words.

This is a group assignment which is intended to allow you to demonstrate your

understanding of how to analyse the role of information systems in the
transformation of business enterprises. It is also aimed at inducing your analytical
and decision-making skills in terms of your ability to apply information systems
principles in analysis of practical issues.

Your report must present clear and discernible recommendations that flow from
your analysis. Orderly structuring and presentation of relevant material will also
count significantly in the assessment.

You may choose to discuss your thoughts with other groups to ensure that you have
understood them properly, but you may not collaborate with other groups to prepare
the detail of your report and its drafting. You may not share, with any other groups,
any text, graphics, or data files that form part of your assignment.

Use a word processor to prepare your report on A4 sheets. Use 1-inch margins on all
sides of your sheets. The text should be 12-point Times New Roman font with 1.5
line spacing. You should use block paragraphs and separate them with single lines.
The main title of your report should be bold and in 18-point of the same font. Use
bold characters for headings at 14 points (e.g 1 Introduction), use bold characters

for sub-headings at 12 points (e.g 1.1 My Project), and use italicised characters for
sub-sub-headings also at 12 points (e.g. 1.1.1 My Trading Item). All your headings
(including sub-headings) should be left-aligned. Number your pages at the bottom-
centres of your sheets in 1,2,3,… format. Use the assignment submission sheet
(which is the last page of this assignment brief) as the cover sheet of your report; and
fill in the required details before submitting. You can just staple your report sheets
together on the top-left corner. The number of words of your report should not
exceed 5,000.

You may draw upon other sources of information apart from the ones given for the
course. However, you are advised to pay particular attention to the way you
reference other people’s ideas in your report, and avoid plagiarism!

One paper copy of your report should be submitted to the secretariat of the GIMPA
Graduate School of Business by Friday 1st July 2011. This assignment makes up 25%
of the continuous assessment mark of this course.

No extensions will be given for this report; and any project submitted after the due
date will have 5 marks deducted from the mark you would have been awarded.

 Analysis – 65 marks
 Recommendations – 20 marks
 Structure and presentation – 10 marks
 Language (grammar and spelling) – 5 marks
