Division Information
Grasshopper = Cadora W/T Test ‘A’ and a course of cross rails. Course could be ridden as poles if
requested on entry form. Course will be abbreviated from regular length. Trotting or cantering is
permitted and no time allowed will be used, but penalties will be counted for rails down or refusals.

Pre-Entry = dressage test Entry 1 and stadium course of no more than 2’3 little to no filler but some
filler will be beside jumps. Expect 8-11 jumping efforts.

Entry = dressage test Entry 2 and stadium course averaging 2’6, max 2’9. Some filler will be used,
some at side of jump, expect 8-11 jumping efforts.

Pre-Training = dressage test Pre-training 1 and stadium course averaging 2’9, max 3ft. Filler will be
used, some technical jumps and related distances, but will be inviting. Expect 10-12 jumping efforts.

Training = dressage test Training 1 and stadium course averaging 3ft, max 3’3. Lots of filler will be
used, related distances and technical fences. Expect 10-12 jumping efforts.

Dressage tests will be Eventing Canada tests. Please note that eventing dressage tests do NOT begin with
a halt at X, they only halt and salute and the end of the test. Tests will be available for pickup after
competition and will be scored by percentage then converted into penalty points. In test of choice, tests
will be provided by competitor (2 copies with registration, or you can ride any of the eventing tests) and
will be scored by percentage only and not converted into penalties. It is a Rider’s responsibility to know
their test prior to arriving at the show. A test reader is permitted and may only read what is written with
no explanation of movements. The tests are available to download and print at
http://www.equinecanada.ca/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=470&Itemid=365
and the W/T test is available here http://www.cadora.ca/Tests/Cadora-WalkTrot-TESTA.pdf

Scoring
Ribbons to 6th will be awarded and all divisions with entries will run, but divisions with low entries will
be combined for pinning.

One horse and rider combination may enter as many classes as they like, but only one Combined division
will count for ribbons. Dressage Test-of-Choice will be pinned as a separate class. Riders are welcome
to enter the jumper courses as schooling, however those who do NOT complete a Combined division will
not be considered for pinning. Combined divisions are scored on penalty points from the dressage score
and any penalty points accumulated from jumping. The percentage score from the dressage test is taken
and converted into penalty points, so of the scores posted for dressage, the lower numbers are better. Any
penalty points from jumping, which can be incurred by a refusal, a rail, or going over the time allowed,
are added to the dressage score to create a combined score which is used to pin the class. Provided riders
complete the course in under the time allowed, there is no benefit to riding fast.
A fall of the rider in the competition ring will result in elimination from the scoring, however the rider is
welcome to remount and complete the test or course provided they are physically comfortable to do so. A
horse and rider who jump off course will be eliminated, but will be permitted to complete the course. A
horse that leaves the dressage ring with all four legs, prior to the completion of the dressage test, will be
eliminated. A horse that refuses three fences on course will be eliminated. Horses eliminated in dressage
will be permitted to continue with the test, or in extenuating circumstances, start over with the judge’s
permission. Horses eliminated in jumping will be asked to leave the ring but will be permitted to school
the course after all the riders in their division have jumped, until the horse gets over the course or a
maximum of 5 minutes. In the case of really naughty horses, the ring will be available for schooling after
the close of competition.

Rules
Decision of the Judge and/or Show Management is final in all cases.

Helmets must be worn at all times while mounted anywhere on the property. Boots with a heel are
required for anyone mounted, and any horse handlers should also have on appropriate footwear. Show
clothes and braiding are not required but encouraged. Safety stirrup irons are encouraged, especially for
juniors. Safety vests are encouraged also.

NO DOGS on property please. Unsupervised children might be sold as slaves.

Only horses living on property will be allowed in the barn. Water will be available for horses, washroom
on site, food booth will provide opportunity to purchase lunch. Space around ring for lawn chairs, bring
your own. Provided the weather holds, dressage and jumping will be on grass rings but may be moved
into the arena due to rain. Arena will be open for warmup as well as unfenced grass area. Please no
lunging when others are riding.

Boots or wraps are permitted for jumping, not dressage. Running Martingales will be permitted in
jumping, not in dressage. Bits for dressage should be simple snaffles, no leverage bits permitted. Single
or double jointed, or mullen mouth snaffles all permissible. Leverage bits are permitted in jumping.

Unnecessary or excessive use of force against any horse in the warmup or competition will result in
elimination from scoring, and a second offence will result in the offender being asked to leave the
property immediately. Rudeness towards other riders or show management will not be permitted. A
horse may be retired for the day as a result of unsoundness, at the discretion of the judge.

Standard Eventing rules do not permit a horse to be ridden by more than one competitor, but we are
forgoing this rule and one horse may be used for two or more riders provided the horse is not over-
worked and shows no obvious sign of fatigue.

Show management reserves the right to ask the handler or rider of any unsafe horse to leave the warmup
or show areas at any time. While we encourage you to use this as a schooling show, we do consider the
safety and comfort of beginner or novice riders as priority over the schooling of green horses. Safety is
always the first priority and we hope you can appreciate this.
