Wastewater Treatment

Green Nova has a proven capability to accelerate biological processes in waste water treatment plants. When used
in accordance with these instructions Green Nova will lead to:
• Reduction in odors
• Reduction in energy used for aeration
• Volume of bio-solids
• Reduction in chemical usage

Green Nova achieves this result through establishment of an microbial population that has the ability to rapidly and
fully digest organic pollutants through high speed enzymatic catabolism. The rapid reduction in pollutants improves
dissolved oxygen levels thereby reducing aeration requirements.

Due to its high speed Green Nova requires a far fewer number of micro-organisms and therefore results in a
significant reduction in residual biomass which is the cause of excess sludge in most waste water treatment
processes.

Instructions for Use

The use of Green Nova provides the option to either increase plant capacity or reduce electricity
consumption. Apply following the below dosing regimen.

1. Open package and place Green Nova into a suitable sized filter bag and suspend into flow in
the Inlet to WWTP or into upstream pump stations.
2. Where high flow rates make direct suspension of the filter bag impractical, a reservoir can be
created as a side Stream. A 1-2” (25-50mm) pipe into a 250Gal (1,000L) tank is ideal. Pump
screened waste via this reservoir and return to primary waste stream. Suspend filter bag in
the reservoir.
3. Remove bag after 7 days and release remaining material into plant flow.
4. From 7 days after introduction, monitor key influent and effluent parameters to aeration tanks
and reduce aeration to suit capacity requirements. Monitor quality parameters to reduce
chemical requirements. Polymer usage should reduce in line with reductions in bio-solids.

What to Expect

When Green Nova is first applied in an existing WWTP it improves the biological activity. It will begin to breakdown
and digest accumulated sludge and bio-films throughout the plant. This will cause a temporary increase in
Suspended Solids in influent to the aeration tanks. The higher plant efficiency will typically however provide an
effluent equivalent to previous levels. Once the accumulated sludge is removed from the plant SS and TDS will
show reduced levels in both influent and effluent.

BOD5 and COD levels in influent will show reductions over the initial 2 weeks providing opportunity to begin to
either increase plant throughput or to reduce aeration and therefore electricity consumption.

After the initial cleaning of the plant the total bio-solids produced by the plant will show a marked reduction due to
the higher biological efficiency. Experience to date shows that this can be as high as a 90 to 95% reduction. As this
sludge reduction occurs there is less requirement for chemicals used for flocculation and coagulation.

Dosage
Sewage Treatment Plant

When applying Green Nova to a WWTP for the first time use the following dosing regimen based on the
temperature of the waste flow entering the plant and the daily average flow volume:

If Temperature < 85°F / 30°C

Day 1 4ppm
Day 2 2ppm
Day 3 1ppm
Ongoing Treatment: Daily - 0.3ppm or Weekly - 2ppm

If Temperature > 85°F / 30°C

Day 1 3ppm
Day 2 2ppm
Day 3 1ppm
Ongoing Treatment: Daily - 0.25ppm or Weekly - 1.5ppm

Industrial Waste Water Treatment Plant

When applying Green Nova to a WWTP for the first time use the following dosing regimen based on the daily average
flow volume:

If COD / BOD5 are each < 1,500mg / L

Day 1 4ppm
Day 2 2ppm
Day 3 2ppm
Ongoing Treatment: Daily - 0.3ppm or Weekly - 2ppm

If COD / BOD5 are each > 1,500mg / L

Day 1 10ppm
Day 2 5ppm
Day 3 2ppm
Ongoing Treatment: Daily - 0.5 ppm or Weekly - 3 ppm

Storage

Store in original packaging and keep in a cool, dry location out of direct sunlight and humidity to maintain shelf life.
Once opened Green Nova must be kept in a dry and airtight container to prevent activation.
