Basic Lightning Protection System

Rolling Sphere Method, Protected Angle

and Meshed Method

DR. Ir. Djoko Darwanto

Sistem Proteksi Petir Eksternal
Sistem proteksi petir eksternal terdiri atas bagian yang
dipasang di luar bangunan
 Sistem Terminasi-Udara/Finial (air termination
system)
Menangkap sambaran petir langsung (dengan
sistem terminasi-udara)
 Penghantar turun (down-conductor system)
Menyalurkan arus petir secara aman menuju
bumi (dengan sistem penghantar turun)
 Sistem terminasi bumi (earth-termination system)
Menyebarkan arus petir ke dalam bumi (dengan
sistem terminasi bumi/pentanahan)
Sistem Terminasi-udara
Sistem terminasi-udara (air-termination
system) berfungsi mencegah kerusakan akibat
sambaran petir langsung.
Sistem ini membuat sambaran petir bisa
lebih terkendali.
Sistem ini terdiri atas kombinasi dari:
 Batang (rod)
 Kawat dan kabel terbentang (catenary
wire)
 Konduktor dalam jaringan (meshed
conductor)

PROTECTIVE ANGLE
METHODE
Protective angle
Protective angle method (metode sudut lindung) diturunkan dari
electrical-geometrical lightning model.

Sistem terminasi-udara terdiri atas:
• Isolated melindungi struktur dari sambaran petir langsung. Sistem terminasi-udara
selama memenuhi syarat ketebalan minimum.

It starts with a first risk analysis in
accordance with IEC 62305-2 for the
determination of the necessity of protective
measures.

A protection level I to IV has to be determined

in order to define a set of lightning current
paramenters values. This protection level is used to
classify protection measures to define the type of
lightning protection systems (LPS) needed.
Generally, a lightning protection system type II is
sufficient - extensive and sensitive electronic systems
require a lightning protection system type I.
