Introduction to UCD - UI/UX - Frontend/Backend

DESKRIPSI MATA KULIAH

Mata kuliah desain dan pengujian berpusat pada


pengguna memberikan kemampuan kepada mahasiswa
agar dapat memahami dan menganalisis berbagai
prinsip, metode riset pengguna, analisis usability, dan
metode pengujian dalam bidang User-Centered Design
(UCD). Mahasiswa diharapkan dapat menganalisis,
mendiskusikan dan menerapkan beberapa metode UCD
ke dalam pengembangan aplikasi riil.
CAPAIAN PEMBELAJARAN LULUSAN
S9 Menunjukkan sikap bertanggungjawab atas pekerjaan di bidang
keahliannya secara mandiri.
P3 Mempunyai pengetahuan dalam mengembangkan algoritma/metode
yang diimplementasikan dalam perangkat lunak berbasis komputer.
KU2 Mampu menunjukkan kinerja mandiri, bermutu, dan terukur.
KU8 Mampu melakukan proses evaluasi diri terhadap kelompok kerja yang
berada dibawah tanggung jawabnya, dan mampu mengelola
pembelajaran secara mandiri.
KU9 mampu mendokumentasikan, menyimpan, mengamankan, dan
menemukan kembali data untuk menjamin kesahihan dan mencegah
plagiasi.
KU10 Mempunyai kemampuan dalam mendefinisikan kebutuhan pengguna
atau pasar terhadap kinerja (menganalisis, mengevaluasi dan
mengembangkan) algorithma/metode berbasis komputer.
KU11 Memiliki kemampuan (pengelolaan) manajerial tim dan kerja sama (team
work), manajemen diri, mampu berkomunikasi baik lisan maupun tertulis
dengan baik dan mampu melakukan presentasi.
KK9 Mampu menerapkan dan menganalisis metode yang berhubungan
dengan konsep UI (User Interface) dan UX (User Experience) pada
aplikasi web dan mobile.
CAPAIAN PEMBELAJARAN LULUSAN
M1 Mampu menjelaskan teori dan konsep pada bidang desain dan
pengujian berpusat pada pengguna seperti: user experience,
design, user-centered design (UCD), UCD principles, user
research, usability analysis, and user testing (P3, KU2, KU9,
KK9)

Mampu membedakan/membandingkan beberapa konsep pada


M2 bidang UCD, seperti antara UI and UX, antara front-end dan
back-end, antara front-end dengan UI/UX, antara UCD dengan
system-centered design. (P3, KU2, KU9, KK9)

M3 Mampu memahami topik/konsep teori dan aplikasi dari UCD,


dengan menyusun tulisan ilmiah berupa essay dari hasil review
beberapa sumber referensi dengan menghindari praktik
plagiarism (S9, KU2, KU9. KK9)

M4 Mampu menerapkan konsep atau metode pada bidang UCD


dalam merancang aplikasi riil khususnya yang mendukung
pelestarian pariwisata dan budaya Bali. (S9, P3, KU2, KU8,
KU10, KU11, KK9)

Usability, HCI, UCD, and UX

Usability is a measure of how well a specific user in a specific context can


use a product/design to achieve a defined goal effectively, efficiently and
satisfactorily.

HCI is a discipline field concerned with the design, evaluation and


implementation of interactive computing systems for human use and with the
study of major phenomena surrounding them.

UCD is a software design methodology for developers and designers which


helps them make applications that meet the needs of their users

UX is a person’s perceptions and responses that result from the use of a


product, system or service.

Therefore, UX concerns the user’s emotions, beliefs, preferences,


perceptions, physical and psychological responses, behaviors, and
accomplishmens that occur before, during and after use the product, system
or service.
The relationship between Usability, HCI, UCD, and UX

Starting point is usability.

HCI to be rooted in usability,but it


focuses on how humans relate to
computing products.

UCD is considered to be one part of


HCI.

The overall goal of HCI fields is to


improve the User Experience (UX).

UCD is a way of ensuring the UX of an


application.
The difference between UI and UX

The difference between User Interface (UI) and User


Experience (UX) is that UI refers to the aesthetic elements
by which people interact with a product, while UX is
about the experience a user has with a product or service.

So, UI focuses on visual interface elements such as


typography, colors, menu bars, and more, while UX
focuses on the user and their journey through the
product.
The difference between UI and UX
UI/UX vs FRONT END
UI/UX designers work on the visual side and user experience,
which are tightly interconnected.
They start with UX research, build wireframes, UX flow, prototypes,
develop visual elements, and make sure that the design is
consistent with the product brand while being human-centered at
the same time.
Front-end developers work on the functionality of the app.
Front-end developers translate all those pretty buttons and pictures
in code, make sure that interface elements bring the user to the
right page, and that the data obtained from user/app interaction is
saved and ready to be processed.
FRONTEND VS BACKEND
Front End Development is the part of a website that
the user interacts with directly.
Front End also referred to as the client side of the
application.
It includes everything that users experience directly:
text colors and styles, images, graphs and tables,
buttons, colors, and navigation menu.
Language: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
FRONTEND VS BACKEND
Backend is the server-side of the website.
Backend stores and arranges data, and also makes sure
everything on the client-side of the website works fine.
It is the portion of software that does not come in direct contact
with the users.
The parts and characteristics developed by backend designers are
indirectly accessed by users through a front-end application.
Activities, like writing APIs, creating libraries, and working with
system components without user interfaces are also included in
the backend.
Languages: Ruby, PHP, Java, .Net, and Python.
