Ethics In organizations

Introduction

This paper briefly covers the ethics in organizations. I have studied various levels of ethics in

organizations namely the human resource management ethics, production ethics, marketing

ethics and the impacts of technology on ethics of organizations.

What are ethics?

A code of moral principles and values that provides guidelines for a person or group in doing

what is right.(Thomas N.Duening & john M.Ivancevich, 2010)

Objectives :

1. Study of human behavior and makes evaluate assessment about moral or immoral

2. Establishes moral standards and norms of behavior

3. Makes judgment on human behavior depending on moral and norms.

4. Expresses an attitude about human contact in general

Business ethics :

According to todays managers and nonmanagers in organizations , business ethics are

1. Complying with law

2. It’s the one’s ability in making a distinction between right and wrong

3. Also reflect the religious beliefs and faith.

Technology impact on ethics:

Technology has both good and bad impacts on the ethics . today’s latest technology has been

playing a prominent role in our everyday life . From computers to the credit card machines all

the technological advances are serving the humans in living a better life.these computing

machines store a lot of data every day. Every technological advances has been tied up with

ethical behavior, I mean one’s information or data should be safe and should not result in any

unethical activity. Unethical activities like credit card fraud, internet fraud and non deliverable

merchandise etc, has been growing constantly.

All these problems should be resolved In order to have a fair relationships among individuals and

organizations using technology.

Managerial ethics:

Ethics are used by the managers in an organization, all decisions made by the managers

directly or indirectly affect the employees, organizations, consumers and other parties. (Thomas

N.Duening & john M. Ivancevich, 2010). The results of the decisions resemble the ethics of the

manager. Modern ethical issues are becoming more complex. Manager’s decisions affects not

only his /her career but also the organizational objectives and even the society that the

organizations exists.
Training:

Every organization has to conduct training on imparting organizational ethics to its

employees. The decision made with ethical knowledge gives better results to the organization

and to the consumers. Ethical leaders understand their place within the larger network of

constituents and stakeholders. It is not about the leader as an individual, it is about something

bigger—the goals and dreams of the organization. Ethical leaders also recognize that value is in

the success of people in the organization.

Ethics in human resource management

An organization is successful only when there is a healthy relation between employer and

employee. There are some basic ethics to be followed , there should not be any discrimination or

partiality towards a gender or religion or caste or age etc. human resource management is one of

main managerial level ,which plays a crucial role in achieving organizational goals. The main

objective of the human resource management is to select the talented people among a pool of

applicants and managing them to remain in the same organization.

Ethics in production:

This is the main phase of any product, production always depends on the demand. Production

ethics are very much important for an organization. There is a need for ethical behavior in

production, some organization loose control over maintaining the quality. In order to cope up

with the demand some organizations neglect the quality and opt cheaper quality. Hence
customers trust has been mainly emphasized in ethical behavior. This also include environmental

ethics

Ethics in marketing

Marketing of a product is the final challenge for an organization, it decides the pricing of the

product, the marketing cost always has its affect on the pricing strategy. Media is the major

marketing source. So, media ethics also need to be considered in marketing ethics.
