HAPPY HANUKKAH
This year we had the unique experience of being in Israel during the entire Hanukkah Season. What a wonderful
experience! In 164 BC Judah Maccabaeus, with a small army of Jewish soldiers, victoriously entered Jerusalem to

lit. Being in Israel during the entire time of Hanukkah gave us some unique

Another exciting moment on our trip was when we were given the

children's home. We presented them with gifts and celebrated the Jewish

holiday with poor, little Jewish children in the inner city of Tiberius on the

holiday. Each family had their own Menorah to light, special food and many
games to play with the children. It was a great time to visit Israel.

We spent eight days visiting so many incredible sites that there is not enough room to talk about all that we have seen and
experienced. Everyone should visit Israel at least once in their life! Probably the most moving was the Yad Vashem Holocaust
Center in Israel. They have nearly 300,000 photographs alone, with thousands of films and videotaped testimonies of the
survivors. We heard horrific stories of how the Jewish people were tortured and mass murdered. But out of the ashes God has
reborn Israel.
We ate lunch overlooking the place where Abraham offered Isaac to God, and that is exactly where the temple mount now exists.
We also walked in the wilderness where David hid from Saul, looked over the valley of Armageddon, spent time in prayer along
side our Jewish brothers and sisters at the western wall, entered the empty tomb of Jesus, prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane,
walked the temple steps where Jesus walked, sat in the synagogue of Capernaum where Jesus preached, visited Peter’s house
where Jesus healed his mother in law, took a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee overlooking the land where Jesus did most of His
ministry, and on and on and on…...through the land, seeing our Christian History with our own eyes.
