iii
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I am indeed very grateful to the creator of all creatures,
almighty Allah, for this boundless blessing and assistance.
I wish to express my deepest appreciation to all my esteemed
colleagues and friends, who advised and encouraged me as I
prepared this project work on how a radio frequency can be modify
to control a particular device. With gratitude, I thank Dr A.A Ayeni
for his support, contribution and encouragement throughout this
project work.
I am also appreciating my clew in general whose congeniality
and knowledge of resources have been of infinite value to me. In
addition, I am indebted to Alh Ibrahim Moyosoore, Mrs Bolaji. S
Abiodun, Engr Atanda, Engr Hamzat, Engr Musbau, Jimoh
kareemat, Jimoh Aminat, Sheu Afeez, Raheem T. Abdulraheem,
Bukola Rasheedat, M.J Hassan, August Comte and others who are
numerous to mention. I am most grateful.
Finally, a heartfelt thanks to my beloved parent Alh Sheu
Aminat and Late Alh Ahmad Tijani Sheu. I applaud their patience
and dedication to my vision.

ABSTRACT

The project research involves the design and construction of a

Radio Frequency (RF) remote control system that can be used to
control an electrical device without the need for cable, but a wireless
radio communication medium.
This remote control system is a radio communication system
that has high transmission ability unlike wire communication
medium e.g. use of coaxial cable.
The device contains both the transmitter and the receiver
circuits. The transmitter consists of two switches that generate two
different tones through 555 timer connected in astable operation.
While the receiver consists of two outlets, one is connected to Power
Supply Unit (PSU) and the other bears the lamp holder in which a
light bulb is connected to. These two circuits resonate at same
frequency which is within the Frequency modulation (FM) range.
(88- 108) MHz. The tones generated depend on the switch depressed
by providing different resistance to a tone generator. The frequencies
of the tone are modulated and then transmitted through a radio wave
channel to the receiver where it is received, demodulated, decoded
and used to trigger a relay in order to switch ON/ OFF the power

supplied to a home appliances or the controlled device connected to
the relay.
This project is designed to control electronic devices and
appliances within the sitting room, nearby rooms, poultry farm, and
street light. It is expected to have distance covered of about 10
meters in all direction from the point of use.
