capacity of 220,000 tons and is expected to begin mass production by early 2009.

Earlier in 2008, the Industry Automation Division also won the Frost & Sullivan Market
Leadership Award in the programmable logic controller (PLC) market in Vietnam and
three other countries – Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. This award is given to
companies who have attained market share within its industry through excellence in all
areas of the market leadership process. In 2008, we also saw an overall positive and
stable growth in Siemens Industry Automation and Drive Technologies.

Energy Sector
The Fossil Power Generation Division completed the turnkey construction of the power
island for Ca Mau 1 combined cycle power plant and put it into the commercial operation
in March 2008. This facility, which has a generating capacity of 750 MW, plays an
important role in supplying power to the national grid as well as contributing to the
economic growth of the country.

The Power Transmission Division was awarded all contracts to supply the equipment for
the 500 kV power substations. The first 220kV gas insulated substation (GIS), located in
Hanoi, will begin operations at the beginning of 2009. These substations will contribute to
stable power transmission in the northern and central parts of the country. In addition, the
Division also supplied equipment for various 110kV substations in the industrial sector.
With these contracts, Siemens continues to play a major role in supplying Vietnam with
power transmission equipment as well as providing state-of-the-art solutions for the most
economical use of natural resources.

Healthcare Sector
Siemens affirmed its leadership in healthcare by supplying and installing a large number
of imaging diagnosis systems, including computed tomography (CT) scanners, magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI), X-ray and ultrasound systems, as part of a project supported
by KfW Entwicklungsbank, the object of which is to improve the quality of healthcare
services at four hospitals in the provinces. Siemens also completed the installation of a
wide range of diagnosis systems as part of a project to upgrade three hospitals of the
Ministry of Public Security in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.

Siemens signed a contract to supply Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City with a
complete diagnostic imaging and oncology treatment solution. That includes the country’s
