Intravenous Therapy (IVT) training is primarily designed to ensure safe practice in intravenous
therapy to uphold the quality of nursing practice.

 
 


 

 , with valid and current PRC license card or

  who were not able to renew their IV Therapy card for more than five
(5) years from date of issuance;


 
  who were not able to accomplish the required IV injections within

- Non-nursing health related professionals and technicians (MD, Post-graduate Medical Interns,
Medical Technologists, Pulmo-tech, Registered Midwife) may attend the "

    "#" IVT Training program for
nurses including the practicum. They will not be required to accomplish the required IV
injections. They will not be issued an IVT license card but will be issued a Certificate of
Attendance to the Training Program.

- Non-health related professionals are not eligible to attend the ANSAP IVT training program.

The Philippine Nursing Act of 2002 (R.A. 9173) stipulates that the administration of parenteral
injection is in the scope of nursing practice. ANSAP believes that the certification of IV therapist
will be continued for several reason, paramount of which is safe nursing practice.

Moreover, an RN must enroll in IV therapy training because most government and private
hospitals prefer RNs who are IV therapy-certified.

hospital/provider that you want to train for is accredited by them to conduct IVT training.

Registration and/or reserving a slot for IVT training depends on the ANSAP-accredited
hospital/provider. It could be through personal visit, phone call, text message or online
registration.

supplies, honoraria for facilitators, coordinators, speakers, lecturers and preceptors as well as

The 3-day basic IVT training are the

a. Initiating and maintaining peripheral IV therapy infusions


b. Administering IV drugs
c. Administering and maintaining blood and blood components
d. Preparing and maintaining Total Parenteral Nutrition
e. One-on-One IV insertion under the direct supervision of a trainer/preceptor

u Course evaluation (the trainers and the IVT training program as a whole will be evaluated
by the trainees)

Each participant will be rated accordingly:

u Didactic (Pre-test, Post-test) ± 50%


u Practicum (Return Demonstration) ± 50%

If a participant fails in both the Didactic and Practicum areas, a

requirements for initial issuance of IVT license card

Processing of IVT license card takes 3-6 weeks after submission of requirements at the ANSAP
office.

An IVT license is valid for (3) years for IV Therapy Nurses, Trainers and Preceptors.

An IVT license can be canceled or suspended when:

u PRC license is not renewed;


u any violation of the Nursing Law (R.A. 9173: Philippine Nursing Act of 2002);
u IVT license is not renewed for more than 5 years from the date of issuance (the
Registered Nurse must undergo the Basic IVT training again); and
u when there are violations in the Standards of IVT practice.

A lost IVT license card may be replaced by submitting to the National ANSAP office an
affidavit of loss, the corresponding Certificate of Training of the IVT license card or a
certification of the Trainer that states the place and dates of the training attended by the
participant plus a photocopy of the official list of participants of the IVT training attended.
