:
Hold
a
wire
to
its
the

terminal.
Heat
both
the

1. Stuff
The
Sensors
:
The
IR
sensor
is
a
black
box
with
4
wires.
It
should
be
soldered
to
IR1-‐5
on
the
silk
screen.
One
corner
of
sensor’s
box,
is
not
square,
its
cut
off.
Match
that
cut
off
corner
to
the
silkscreen’s
shape.
Stuff
sensor
so
its
body
is
on
the
same
side
as
its
silk
screen
IMPORTANT-‐
THE
SENSOR
MUST
BE
SOLDERED
SO
THE
SILKSCREEN
MATCHES
THE
SENSOR.
2. Bend

so
that
the
sensor
says
in
place
and
is
flush
with
the
board
while
you
solder
it.

4. 30
Resistors
:
Find
the
330ohm
resistors.
They
are
the
resistors
with
the
color
code
Orange,
Orange,
Brown.
5. Bend
Resistor

:
Bend
resistor
wires
so
that
they
are
at
a
right
angle
to
the
resistor’s
body.
(See

6. Stuff
LSB
with
330
Resistors:
The
board’s
silk
screen
is
marked
with
white
rectangles
with
330
written
within
the
rectangle.
These
are
the
spots
for
the

Insert
the
resistors
so
that
the

body
is
on
the

as
the

Back
:
Bend

in
order
to
keep
the

1. Solder
LM293
:
This
IC
has
a
notch
in
it
at
one
end.
You
must
make
sure
to
solder
it
so
that
the
notch
on
the
IC
matches
the
silkscreen.
Proper
orientation
is
shown
to
the
right.
As
you
are
soldering,
solder
1
pin
first,
double
check
that
the
chip
is
oriented
and
seated
on
the
circuit
board,
and
then
solder
the
rest
of
the
pins.
AUTION:
This
chip
must
be
oriented
correctly
for
proper
operation.
Failure
to
do
so
will
result
in
a
nonfunctioning
circuit.
2. Solder
IDC
Socket:
The
IDC
socket
goes
at
the
top
of
the
circuit
board.
It
is
polarized.
It
must
be
soldered
so
that
the
notch
in
the
plastic
matches
the
notch
on
the
silk
screen.
(Notch

3. Solder
Screw
Terminals
:
The
two
screw
terminals
should
be
soldered
in
spots
marked
M1
and
M2.
Later
you
will
use
these
to
attach
your
motor
wires
to
the
board.
These
screw
terminals
work
by
the
screw
on
the
top
to
clamp
down
on
wires
placed
inside.
Make
sure
that
the
openings
face
the
outside
of
the

and
that
they
are
flush
against
the
circuit
board.

4. Solder
Header
:
You
have
a
bag
of
4
header.
These
header
are
to
be
soldered
such
that
the
pins
face
the
bottom
of
the
board
(the
side
with
no
writing).
If
you
try
to
solder
all
of
them
at
one
time,
your
pins
will
come
out
slanted.
Insert
one
header,
solder
1
pin,
and
check
its
orientation.
Make
sure
its
perpendicular
to
the
board.
If
its
not,
heat
that
pin
and
adjust
the
header.
Only
after
its
orientation
is
correct,
solder
the
rest
of
the
pins.
5. Solder
9v
Battery
Connector:
This
will
provide
power
to
your
robot
when
its
not
plugged
into
the
computer.
The
connector
should
be
soldered
to
the
holes
on
the
bottom
of
the
board,
between
the
screw
terminals.
Red
should
go
to
+
and
black
goes
to
minus.

SURE
TO
SOLDER

6. Finally,
if
you
have
the

there
will
also
be
space
for
a
LM7805
regulator.
It
is
in
a
TO-‐220
package.
It
should
be
soldered
so
that
the
heat
sink
matches
the
solid
rectangle
of
its
silk
screen.
Its
footprint
is
located
next
to
the
9V
connection.
