October, according to a source at the terminal's owner, Adani Group.

Forgot Password ? "The coal import terminal will be ready to be commissioned before the end of the current quarter," an official of Adani
Group told Platts August 12. The Mundra facility in Gujarat on India's west coast will eventually become the largest
coal-handling terminal in the world, after gradually utilizing its full capacity, the official said.

Member Reference Area Currently, the port handles 40 million mt of cargo annually, which would rise to 100 million mt once the coal terminal
is commissioned. Besides importing its own coal, Adani is optimistic about the terminal receiving coal imports for

Power plans

Adani Power Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Group, is increasing its capacity at the Mundra plant to 1,980 MW from
990 MW currently by the end of FY2010-11, while another 6,600 MW has been tabled by the end of FY2011-12.
Adani Power is also setting up a 4,620-MW thermal power plant in Mundra and a 1,980-MW thermal power plant in
Tiroda in Maharashtra. It also has two coal-based projects in the pipeline: the 1,980-MW Dahej project in Gujarat and
the 1,320-MW Kawai project in Rajasthan.

"The company has already signed power purchase agreements with the state governments of Gujarat, Maharashtra
and Haryana and kept some portion for merchant sale," the official said.
