REDWOOD GROVE SUMMER CAMPS
Enhanced curriculum! Redwood Grove summer campers explore the natural environment through
hands-on activities, games, songs, hikes, arts and crafts, and an enthusiastic staff in a beautiful setting.
New nature and science units with the Youth Science Institute (YSI) including Ohlone lore and ecology
are included each week. All camps will also explore age-appropriate stewardship concepts and activities
with Acterra from seed planting to invasive plant removal.
Required for ALL Redwood Grove camp participants: Medical release form available at losaltosrecreation.org; campers must bring snack daily...
trashless snacks are encouraged. Wear closed-toe shoes and camp T-shirt every day.

Teens gain leadership skills while working
with young children and studying the natural
history of California habitats. Each Counselor-
in-Training gains valuable first-hand work
experience in the Explorer or Adventurer
camps. Each one-week session includes
introductions to leading camp activities and
basic safety procedures. No prior experience
with children necessary.

RWG Assistant Counselors:
14-15 yrs
Teens learn leadership skills for working with
young children, as well as learn about the
natural history of redwoods and California
habitats in a one-day workshop. They will
gain first-hand work experience as Assistant
Counselors to our Naturalist and Survivor
campers. Counselors receive training in
age-appropriate programming, leading camp
activities, participant safety, and interview
techniques.

camps: 1. Comfortable clothes, a bathing
suit, a jacket or fleece, a towel, lots of sun
protection, a lanyard to secure their glasses,
a bottle of water, and non-skid/non-marking
shoes to wear while on the boats and
boards. (They will get WET - tennis shoes,
aqua socks, or Teva sandals are ideal!) No
flip-flops allowed. 2. Please bring a snack or
extra money daily. Daily lunch pass avail-

Camp Shoreline
Learn to kayak, canoe, row or cycle the pedal
boats. Spend time playing games, participat-
ing in craft activities, taking a sailboat ride,

Group Lessons: Enjoy top-flight instruction
from the staff of Whitlinger & Sarsfield Ten-
nis. Adult and Youth (9-14 yrs) classes of
3-8 students will consist of six to eight hours
of instruction. Classes of 2 students will be
converted into 4 lessons.
Make-up Policy: Make-ups will only be given
on those occasions when inclement weather
or an instructor’s absence requires that a
class be canceled. See instructor at next
scheduled class meeting for make-up date.
Rain Policy: In case of rain, contact the Rec-
reation Dept at 947-2790, M-F, 8am-5pm,
within an hour before scheduled starting
time for class status or check with the in-
structor at the court. NO POSTPONEMENT

Come take trips with your favorite Underground recreation leaders to places in the bay area. Participants should bring money or a sack lunch on
the trips. Sign up early as space is limited. All trips will meet and drop off at The Underground Teen Center. Participants must stay in pairs and
meet with staff at scheduled times. Supervision will be provided by Los Altos Recreation staff. For more information, please contact Tamara at

The 11-member Youth Commission is comprised of

Ray systems and video projector.

Subject to approval, groups would be given up to 3 hours per
month depending on availability and the use of a facility attendant.

• Any class cancelled by the Recreation Department will be
refunded in full.
• Returned checks will be charged a $25 service fee.
• A resident is anyone living within the city of Los Altos. All
others living outside the city limits (including unincorporated
areas, Los Altos Hills & Mountain View, etc.) are nonresidents.

Refunds & Transfers

• Refund and transfer requests must be submitted in
writing up to five working days prior to the first day of class.
• All refunds will be charged a $20 service fee.
