Avarath
Also Known As: Bats, Demons
Appearance: Dark, ebony skin, yellow unblinking eyes,
pointy ears, clawed hands and feet and huge, bat wings,
Avarath look like some perverse mind's nightmare, and this
impression is not a wrong one.
Architecture:
Arts & Entertainment:
Calendar:
Crime & Legal System
Daily Life: Cruel, savage and vindictive. Avarath are
anything but a pleasant lot, and they enjoy it. They take
pleasure in the suffering of others, and make sure to be well
pleased. Quick to anger, they will stop before nothing till they
see the offender's blood shed. But most of the time there is no
need to anger them to receive the same treatment.
Diet & Eating Customs:
Fashion & Dress: Often they also have tribal
inscriptions and strange scar patterns on their bodies, ones they
inflict on themselves as signs of power or to mark a victory.
Foreign Relations: Avarath like others. Honestly. After
all, they do need them in order to have somebody to torture.
And that is about as social as they get with other races. Living
in usually quite hostile, and hard to reach places, one should be
out of his mind, or suicidal to approach them. But when others
don't come, Avarath go...
Favored Classes:
Government: Avarath have a rigid tribal structure, with
cruel rituals of initiation into each step of the tribe's hierarchy.
They are led by the Demonchief and when he dies, often killed
by his own tribe, the new chief is chosen from the Demonic
circle through open combat.
Magic & Technology
Medicine
Philosophy:
Population: Reaching up to 200 years, Avarath, by
common opinion, live longer than they deserve to. As they age,
their hair turns gray, senses get dulled and their bodies
weaken. When considered frail by the other members of the
tribe, usually at the age of about 150, they are killed, in typical
Avarath fashion... slowly and painfully.

Duathrin Racial Weaknesses:

Also Known As: Owls, Seekers Settlements:
Appearance: Duathrin are dark tanned, with taloned Social Organization:
feet, feathered dark hair, more often than not long, and huge, War & Weapons:
usually black, gray or dark brown wings. Their eyes may be
human or bird ones, what doesn't change, though, is the sharp
sight that may pierce through any darkness. Generally
considered harsh, but attractive.
Architecture: Duathrin built their nests on the taller
trees of the area they live in, as its easier to perform their tasks
if they can spot trouble faster. Their nests only have the name
in common with actual bird nests however as they are in fact
groups of round platforms with low huts on them.
Arts & Entertainment:
Calendar:
Crime & Legal System
Daily Life: Generally not too open or sociable,
Duathrin prefer to keep their distance. Patient and slow to
anger, one thing that can make them lose their temper quickly
is the sight of nature being harmed. Among themselves and
their friends, though, the Scouts are quite open and love
pulling practical jokes at each other, sometimes not too
harmless ones.
Diet & Eating Customs:
Fashion & Dress:
Foreign Relations: Duathrin are the scouts and the
protectors of the woods, and all their relations and interactions
with other races depend on those duties. Generally, they like
all that respect nature, as for the others... better not to be of the
others. Duathrin are often to be seen in the company of rangers
and druids, as well as in Cuerryn settlements.
Favored Classes:
Government: Dauthrin are ruled by the Council of
Elders that is composed of all scouts older than 130, regardless
of gender, the usual number about 30. In times of need, a
Leader may be chosen by the council, that has all the powers
of a King. As a whole, though, Duathrin are rather loosely
organized, held together by their duties rather than any
hierarchy.
Magic & Technology
Medicine
Philosophy: Surprisingly, most Duathrin join Order or
Might aligned orders. Nature ones come next in preference
while Life and Chaos ones don't see many of the winged scouts
in their ranks.
Population: Able to live up to the age of 150, Duathrin
seem to be connected to nature. If forcefully kept away from
the woods for some time, they start to age quickly, and die in
less than a year, a phenomenon that remains still unexplained.
They reach adulthood at the age of 20, and at the age of 130
they enter the council of elders.

Species of Mithbar – Avians

Faen'ra
Also Known As: Hawkmen
Appearance: Looking like a hybrid between a human
and a bird of prey, Faen'ra are perhaps the perfect embodiment
of what Avians are. Huge, usually fair colored wings, taloned
feet and eagle eyes, make these proud warriors hard to pass
unnoticed. Some of them also have feathered hair, and feathers
on some other parts of their body.
Architecture:
Arts & Entertainment:
Calendar:
Crime & Legal System
Daily Life: Proud and distant, the masters of the day-
sky are not very social. Quick to anger and not so quick to
forget, getting along with them is not easy. Honor and loyalty
are far more than mere words for them, though, and if you
manage to gain the friendship of a Faen'ra, you have the
friendship of a family, and for lifetime.
Diet & Eating Customs:
Fashion & Dress:
Foreign Relations: Faen'ra live in a family, with all
members painfully loyal to one another, and to any friendships
and alliances they have. Outsiders are not welcomed near their
nests, and are quickly shown so, quite forcefully most of the
time. Being distant and aloof, Faen'ra are still not a hostile
race, and will never attack or fight anybody without reason.
Favored Classes:
Government: Faen'ra families are led by the most
experienced and prominent warrior, regardless of gender. All
other members of the family are in all ways equal, and judged
only by their skill and experience in battles. When the leader
dies, or if deemed unworthy to lead the family anymore, the
successor is chosen among the others, sometimes through
combat.
Magic & Technology
Medicine
Philosophy:
Population: Able to live up to 150, their life of
warriors rarely lets them reach this age. As they grow older,
their bodies and senses become weaker, and at the age of 130
they are often not able to hunt and fly anymore, and are fully
dependent on their family. Too proud to live like that, many
choose to die earlier.

Gargoyles
Also Known As: Defenders
Appearance: Winged with taloned hands and feet.
Their hardened hide, that turns to stone during the day, can
have a variety of colors, ranging from dull gray to obsidian
black. They usually have glowing eyes and fangs that come out
of their mouth.
Architecture:
Arts & Entertainment:
Calendar:
Crime & Legal System
Daily Life: Vicious and relentless or noble and
protective, Gargoyles cover the whole range of the moral
specter. They like to hold on to old feuds and friendships and
will go to extremes to honor both. They are grim and don't
smile easily but when they do, its from the heart.
Diet & Eating Customs:
Fashion & Dress:
Foreign Relations: Living in the wild, or in the service
of powerful Magi, Gargoyles tolerate other races. They prefer
not to confront others directly but they will not hesitate if they
have no other option. Nocturnal by need, they like shadowy
places. Loners and socialites in equal numbers.
Favored Classes:
Government: When in a pack, usually the most fierce
warrior is the leader, with the oldest serving as counselor and
in some cases, shaman. An annual duel ensures the leader is
always the best for the survival of the pack and weaklings
usually are at the lowest ranks.
Magic & Technology
Medicine
Philosophy:
Population: Able to reach the age of 2000, Gargoyles
usually outlive their masters. As they grow older, their
appearance changes much like the Humanoids, but in a much
slower rate. Any hair they have turns white and when they die,
they turn to stone forever.

Te'griel
Also Known As: Nightingales
Appearance: Where other Avians are predators,
Te'griel are poets and artists, and their appearance is dead
giveaway of the fact. With gentle, frail bodies, small wings,
unable to carry them too high, or for too long, melodious
voices and Human eyes, they are looked down upon by other
Avians. By most Races, though, Te'griel are considered very
beautiful.
Architecture:
Arts & Entertainment:
Calendar:
Crime & Legal System
Daily Life: Friendly, open and sociable, Te'griel adore
attention, and try to get it as much as they can. They love to
entertain others, be it by their art or their humor, and are
always ready to laugh at a witty joke, especially if they are the
ones telling it. Though some tend to call them air-headed, in
general these artists are a pleasant and preferred company.
Diet & Eating Customs:
Fashion & Dress:
Foreign Relations: Te'griel need audience as much as
others need air, so the only grudges they keep are against the
ones mocking their art. Much unlike the other Avians, they
tend to live in big cities, and mingle with different Races, and
are not rare to be seen in all kinds of strange companies, even
such considered inappropriate by most.
Favored Classes:
Government: Te'griel rarely care for any hierarchy or
rank at all. The only word they strictly abide is the one of the
Keeper and the Guardian, mostly because they won't like the
problems if they don't. Once a year a gathering of all Te'griel is
held in the Region of Life, a feisty celebration of all kinds of
art and entertainment.
Magic & Technology
Medicine
Philosophy:
Population: Short-lived and somehow fragile, Te'griel
rarely reach more than 65 years. After they hatch, they spend
10 years with their parents, then leave to search for their own
audience. As Te'griel age, their hair turns white, and their
bodies and wings get even more frail, but at the same time their
voices become deeper and more touching.
