Location Primary Treatment: (L to R) Traditional septic tank, Imhoff septic tank
The Matadero is located in Colcapirhua, about 5 miles
west of Cochabamba, Bolivia. The urban sprawl of the
municipality has expanded into the neighborhood of
the Matadero which was originally located outside of Existing Site Layout:
city limits. Most of the land area on the project site is either already occupied or being
used. The major structures are illustrated in the image here. It was discovered
that an older septic tank was buried south of the Matadero building.

Flow Estimating (Mass Balance) • Traditional septic tank for primary treatment
Too high BOD5 & TSS loading; will not fit on property
• Facultative pond for secondary treatment
Too high flow rate; will not fit on property
